FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT LIAISON

(2024-2025 School Year)

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.High school diploma

2.College or equivalent training in interpersonal relations desired

3.Experience in community relations or related activities with adults and/or parents

4.Excellent language and oral communication skills

5.Demonstrated ability and willingness to work with educators in promoting improved home-school relations

6.Willingness to work different hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary

7.Ability to work effectively with staff, parents, and the community

8.Possession of valid California driver's license and personal automobile for use on district business

9.Bilingual ability may be required, depending on assignment

REPORTS TO: Administrator as assigned

JOB GOAL: To engage families in strengthening relationships within the school community, building capacity to support learning in the home, and facilitating access to community resources that address barriers to learning.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Facilitates school site effort to engage parents in the academic, attendance, health, and social-emotional success of their children by coordinating a variety of services

and programs designed to increase academic achievement and improve overall educational experience.

2.Assists school staff with parent contact, both through community visits and telephone calls; may make home visits on regular basis in an effort to build relationships

with and increase participation from families who are less engaged and/or harder to connect to the school community.

3.Assists school staff and parents and community with meetings and training; facilitates access to community-based support services; provides parents information

regarding multiple services through community agency and district service presentations.

4.Develops and implements methods to increase parent attendance at school meetings and district-sponsored events, as well as provide increased opportunities for

parent input and feedback.

5.Assists with transportation of parents to school and district meetings and activities.

6.Attends professional development on outreach, parent recruitment strategies, parent leadership and effective parent education sessions.

7.Facilitates parent education sessions which are linked to learning and provide parent classes, workshops, and opportunities to engage in ways to support student

learning.

8.Participates in preparation and distribution of correspondence, including newsletters and other educational materials to inform parents of school policies and

academic student support; assists staff in dissemination of school, district, and community resources.

9.Assists in communication of parent needs to school staff and district/school concerns to parents.



  1. Organizes and facilitates monthly Parent Cafes and quarterly Family Education Nights to promote and assist family and community engagement with families in order

to provide for active participation in the education of their children.



  1. Tracks and monitors parent and family engagement efforts, including parental attendance at school and district events, welcome packet outreach to all families new to

the school, and ensuring parent representation for school and district governance (i.e., SSC, parent advisory meetings,)



  1. Attends FACE events, which may include evening and weekend participation

SALARY: $20.03 - $24.30 per hour

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District's "Improvement of Professional Services" handbook, Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable.

NEW PROBATIONARY EMPLOYEES AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES WHO BECOME PROBATIONARY UPON RECLASSIFICATION:

A new employee, or a permanent employee who is changed to a new classification, shall serve a probationary period, which shall not exceed six (6) months of duty time exclusive of leaves of absence or other absences. During this probationary period the employee must meet the required standards of performance to be recommended for permanent status in the classification.

A probationary classified service employee may be terminated from the probationary classification at any time without cause, without right of appeal or hearing before the Board of Education. Pursuant to Education Code section 45113, a permanent employee who accepts a promotion and fails to complete the probationary period for that promotional position, shall be employed in the classification from which he or she was promoted.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
