The Family and Community Advocate will be play a foundational role in developing an exciting public/private partnership between the DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation and the McKeesport Area School District. Singularly focused on serving the students, families, and community of Twin Rivers Elementary School, this role will be responsible for developing the Family Resource Center program strategy in alignment with the school mission and partnership vision, and building out the specific resources, partnerships, and programming needed to execute against the strategy.

This individual will work in the Twin Rivers Elementary School located in McKeesport, PA.

School & Community Engagement and Relationship Building

  • McKeesport

Responsible for representing DSGF in the McKeesport and broader community, building trusted relationships with stakeholders such as students, families, staff, community leaders, and more. Responsible for understanding the needs of the Twin Rivers community in alignment with the mission of the DSGF+MASD partnership and the Family Resource Center's goals and identifying and implementing effective and actionable solutions. In order to do this effectively, this role will require a whatever it takes attitude and flexibility to work nights, weekends & holidays as needed.

Social Service Liaison

  • Allegheny County/McKeesport

Responsible for maintaining relationships with key social service agencies and non-profits that serve the McKeesport area community. Responsible for helping members of the Twin Rivers community navigate available services and act as an advocate, including supporting paperwork and providing support during in person or virtual appointments, etc. Responsible for independently drawing on own professional network to address identified needs of students and families within Twin Rivers and effectively implement solutions.

Family Resource Center Program Strategy

  • McKeesport

Responsible for developing the overarching Family Resource Center program strategy, including permanent on-going supports, seasonal or just in time supports, and other ad hoc supports that may align to needs as they arise. Responsible for ensuring the support of the Family Resource Center is aligned with the school's overarching goals for students' healthy minds, bodies, and relationships. Responsible for supporting the development of a programming calendar, identifying partners and providers to support the implementation of programming, and overseeing the execution of programming.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Education, Public Administration, or similar

5-7 years' experience in Social services, education settings, family and youth services, mental health services, non-profit, OR program management

Intentional focus on diversity, equity, and inclusivity approaches and practices

Ability to envision, plan, and facilitate workshops, convenings, and other gatherings of various Twin Rivers stakeholders

Flexible availability in work schedule (nights, weekends & holidays)

Will work 100% at MASD - Twin Rivers Family Resource Center

Skill in navigating complex social service processes

Unwavering commitment to the mission of the DSGF+MASD partnership and the Family Resource Center's goals

Skill in relationship and coalition building across a wide array of community stakeholders

Ability to multi-task & work independently in fast-paced environment
