Employment Type: Full-time (Includes weekdays, evenings and weekends. Hours may need to be adjusted to accommodate various faith formation and liturgical events.)

FLSA Status: Non-exempt, benefit-eligible

Pay Rate: $22 - $28 per hour

Position Description

The Mission San Luis Rey Faith Formation Coordinator works under the guidance of the Director of Catechetical Ministries. They are responsible for the faith formation and sacramental programs for grades pre-k through 8th. The coordinator will assist with recruiting, training, supervising, and maintaining records for catechists within their program. He or she will be responsible for scheduling facilities, ordering books, updating calendars and in general carrying out program details.

The Faith Formation Coordinator position is responsible for the implementation and overseeing the following facets of our bi-lingual Catechetical Ministry.

• Preschool thru 8th grade Faith Formation, including Special Needs Program.

• Formation for parents whose children are receiving sacraments.

• Sacramental preparation for children receiving Reconciliation and Eucharist.

• Assist with coordinating OCIA process for Children and Teens.

• Sunday Liturgy of the Word for Children, 10 AM Mass and 12 Noon (Both English & Spanish)

• Administration and Record Keeping of the programs within their department.

Qualifications

• Must be bilingual - English & Spanish

• Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church

• Must have a strong understanding of Catholic Liturgy, Catholic teachings, Catholic faith, and Catholic principles.

• Able to maintain parishioner confidentiality

• Work in a fast paced environment subject to changing priorities

• Act only in the best interest of the Parish and in accordance with the philosophy of the Franciscan Order

• Must be computer literate, able to use all office machines, with some instruction, in a safe and cost-effective manner

• Should be at least 21 years of age

• Must complete and clear a background check

• Must successfully complete Safe Environment Curriculum and CA Sexual Harassment Training

The employee must be able to climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
