Failure Analysis Technician

Job Purpose

Assist the quality engineering to improve the quality of Rochester Gauges (RG) product and process design and improve customer satisfaction by understanding and providing input to eliminate warranty issues. Assure that product failure analyses are planned and performed to meet customer expectations.

Requirements

College degree or equivalent experience

2.Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings

3.Ability to understand and test electronic equipment and circuits

4.Experience using measurement equipment - calipers, micrometer, height gauge, etc.

5.Ability to perform detailed visual inspections using microscopes.

6.Ability to stand 6-8 hours per day and occasionally lifting 50lbs.

7.Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.

8.Ability to create and communicate technical reports to all levels of staff.

9.Analytical and problem solving skills.

10. Experience with using MS Office software - Excel, Word, Visio, Outlook

Responsibilities

Create and control customer returns data.

2.Track and trend failure analyses.

3.Perform failure analyses and report results.

4.Participate in internal improvement activities focused on warranty failures.

5.Support quality team on internal continual improvement activities.

6.Responsible for inventory of tools, equipment and returned parts.

7.Communicate and work with staff of all levels.

8.Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Quality

Desired Characteristics

1.2+ years of experience in electronic / electromechanical product analysis.

2.2+ years preparing, collecting, analyzing and reporting data.

3.Technical writing experience.

4.ASQ certified quality technician.
