Position Purpose: The purpose of this position is to provide general support to the Admissions and Financial Aid team members at all locations by supporting incoming students with completion of their FAFSA and focusing on collecting ISIRS and clearing verification issues. The FAFSA and Verification Specialist will provide day-to-day guidance and resources pertaining to regular, agreed upon job functions.

Responsibilities: The team member in this position must exhibit certain characteristics and perform specific duties during their daily or weekly routine. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Uphold the Nurtur Core Values and Behaviors and Aveda Success Factors.

  • Supports students in completing and submitting their FAFSA application; review FAFSA for completion and accuracy.

  • Receives ISIR information and collaborates with Financial Aid Counselors and students to resolve verification issues in a timely manner.

  • Collaborates with the Admissions Counselors in scheduling students for next steps in the enrollment process.

  • Partners with the Director of Business Operations in identifying areas of opportunity in the FAFSA/ISIR process.

  • Attends Federal Student Aid webinars to stay up to date on FAFSA changes, FSA updates and regulations that will impact the FAFSA completion and ISIR review process.

  • Supports the Admissions and FA team in achieving enrollment projections as determined by Leadership.

  • Participates in weekly accountability meetings with admissions and financial aid teams.

  • Communicates effectively with the Director of Business Operations on a consistent basis.

  • Handles escalated current student challenges as needed.

  • Performs duties as assigned and/or required to meet business needs.

  • Abides by all other Nurtur policies and procedures as outlined in the Team Member Handbook and Code of Conduct.

Minimum Requirements: The team member in this position must exhibit certain educational and experiential requirements, including:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Prior work experience in a financial, tax, or lending position interpreting personal financials and tax documents preferred.

  • Exhibit self-direction, initiative, resourcefulness, and follow-through with the ability to work at a fast pace and handle multiple tasks and projects at the same time.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrate extreme professionalism and confidentiality in manner, dress, and conduct.

Travel Requirements: The team member in this position must be able to travel locally to events and for out-of-state training as necessary.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The team member in this position will be expected to work in an office environment in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Sit at a desk with a computer for up to eight (8) hours per day.

  • Use hands to handle objects and reach with hands and arms.

  • Walk, sit, stand, balance, stoop, speak, and hear.

  • See a computer screen and read paper and electronic documents.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds.

  • Tolerate a minimal to moderate noise level typical of a corporate office setting.
