Northwestern Health Sciences University, located in Bloomington, MN, is seeking applicants for two (2) full-time, faculty positions in the College of Health and Wellness, Radiology Technology Program. The academic rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, cultures, ethnic backgrounds, and abilities to maintain good working relationships across the College. This includes all groups with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, i.e. community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.

  • Strive for excellence in the preparation and teaching of various RT courses and classes.

  • Achieve technological literacy, knowledge, and innovative use of modern teaching technologies including active learning and the use of computers and multi-media in lectures, laboratories, and distance learning environments.

  • Participate in professional and occupational development.

  • Maintain depth of understanding in the chosen field and contribute to current knowledge of the discipline.

  • Maintain a positive attitude toward work, students, colleagues, and administration.

  • Engage in college and community service.

  • Prepare course syllabi, outlines, calendars, schedules, daily lesson plans, and associated materials such as program reports.

  • Assist the Program Director with development and implementation of strategies to enhance the quality and effectiveness of course curriculum.

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings and workshops and participate in committee assignments.

  • Maintain necessary records such as program and class enrollments, plus grades of student performance.

  • Maintain regular office hours and be able to provide help for students.

  • Work with concurrently enrolled students and faculty; develop and maintain articulation agreements with local applied technology centers and universities.

  • Assist and advise students in professional and student organizations.

  • Assist in the preparation and update of college documents such as the catalog, brochures, etc.

  • Actively assess the program to determine effectiveness and meet all accreditation standards.

  • Manage and verify operational processes and procedures such as teaching assignments, faculty loads, class and room schedules, class changes, etc.

  • Seek and accept mentorship and attend faculty orientation sessions concerning facilities and college policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Work under the supervision of the Program Director.

  • Demonstrate an ability to be creative in planning and implementing the RT program objectives.

  • Accept teaching assignments and opportunities to expand knowledge and expertise in disciple-related subject matter.

  • Assist in the development of new courses and implement strategies to enhance and upgrade current courses including curriculum development, review, and revision.

  • Assess and maintain records such as program and class enrollments and grades of student performance in a timely manner as set forth by the division, school, and college.

  • Accept other duties as assigned.


  • Licensed as a Registered Radiologic Technologist, R.T.(R)

  • Bachelors Degree required

  • Minimum of 2-years clinical experience

  • Experience in a radiologic technology education setting/clinical supervisory preferred

  • Masters Degree preferred

We are seeking an individual with experience in Competency Based Education and Learning Management Systems to support Academic Affairs leadership with leading initiatives that advance program quality and student learning through the integration of innovative educational technology. This individual will stay on the cutting edge of innovation and emerging practice, evaluating and monitoring new learning tools and technologies. The position will work collaboratively to set a vision for the use of technology platforms related to teaching and learning. This individual will work cross functionally to identify opportunities, operationalize projects, gather and analyze data, and deliver on the set goals. Responsibilities: Educational Technology * Identify opportunities to expand the use of current technologies or explore innovative ways of incorporating new technologies to improve student learning and success. * Work with Academic Affairs leaders to construct research strategies and gather, analyze, and use data to answer research questions. * Lead initiatives related to educational technology and deliver results to academic and College leadership. Create and implement a communication structure for new and emerging initiatives. * Evaluate and monitor innovative learning tools and technologies. * Drive the implementation plan for new tools and technologies. * Partner with marketing to ensure external messaging is appropriate, accurately reflects our use of innovative technology, and positions the College for growth. Blackboard A4L: * Lead the Blackboard A4L implementation team. * Improve reporting of Blackboard A4L data to guide institutional decision-making. * Train new Blackboard A4L Power Users to complete projects related to retention and Student Learning Outcomes. * Collaborate with Functional Area Owners to develop research questions and construct and disseminate dashboards in response to research questions. * Develop Student Outcomes Assessment Reports that incorporate Blackboard Goals. * Design additional Pyramid reports. CBE: * Collaborate with AVP of Academic Innovation, Department Deans/Chairs, to gather and review CBE data, converting it into a shareable format for use in decision making. * Align A4L structures with CBE, where appropriate. * Collaborate with Academic Affairs leadership to integrate CBE and Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) data into Student Learning Outcome reports. Reporting Structure: This role reports to the Assistant Vice President of Academic Innovation. Regular collaboration with Academic Affairs and other departmental leadership within the College is an essential component of this position. The Academic Technology and Innovation Specialist has no formal supervisory responsibilities. The person in the role will help train and teach others across the institution on new initiatives and technologies. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. * Strong technical ability with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel, and Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard or Moodle. * Experience with Competency Based Education in higher education. * General digital fluency skills, including good aptitude with various software packages. * Experience with data gathering, data interpretation, and data analysis. * Ability to develop research strategies and explain research methodology. * Understanding of visual representations of data, including construction of dashboards. * Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and team building skills. * Track record of successful leadership with the ability to inspire and motivate teams. * Ability to develop strategies to achieve organizational goals and adapt strategy to changing conditions. * Close attention to detail, and an ability to manage multiple projects at once. * Prior experience in a higher education setting and in teaching/training will be helpful. * Development of technical processes and training experiences will be beneficial.
