Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Dean of the School of Education on the Hattiesburg Campus, the faculty member performs duties relative to the service of the faculty, staff, students, and the general public in carrying out functions of the School of Education.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • MISSION - Assist the university in the implementation of its Mission and the School's Statement of Mission and Goals.
  • ACCREDITATION - Assist the university in maintaining compliance with SACSCOC principles and standards and assist the School of Education in the implementation of the CAEP Accreditation plan.
  • ANNUAL PROCESS REVIEW - Assist the School of Education in the Annual Review Process with the Mississippi Department of Education, including such suggestions from the MDE for improvement of the learning environment.
  • ADVISEMENT - Advise students and prospective students.
  • UNIVERSITY EVENTS - Attend scheduled university events where participation is required.
  • STUDENT RECRUITMENT - Assist the university in recruiting students
  • FACULTY MEMBER - Carry out the responsibilities of a faculty member in the School of Education.
  • OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES - Perform any other responsibilities as requested by the dean.
  • REPORTING RELATIONSHIP -- This position reports to the Chair of Educational Leadership in the School of Education.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Hold doctoral degree in Educational Leadership or Higher Education Administration from an accredited institution

  • Experience in K-12 leadership or university administrative setting

  • Experience in research and ability to supervise dissertation work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching graduate-level educational leadership courses.

  • Excellent analytical/research and communication skills

  • Experience in professional publishing.

  • Ability to meet state administrator licensure requirements

Physical Demands

  • Must possess the physical ability to actively facilitate student learning in the classroom for extended periods .

  • Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
