Job Summary
The faculty member teaches courses in Engineering and Engineering Technology. This is a full-time Faculty (FAC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.
Duties & Responsibilities
Teaches lecture and laboratory sections
Evaluates students and performs career and academic advising
Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives
Develops and teaches online courses
Teaches Dual Enrollment classes
Recruits, advises and evaluates students
Prepares and writes grants for the Department of Engineering
Teaches engineering and engineering technology courses college wide
Participates in a variety of departmental, campus and college-wide programs, activities and committees
Serves as a resource person for adjunct faculty
Teaches day, evening and weekend classes as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Master's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; or Master's Degree in related field with 18 credit hours in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Ability to use innovative teaching techniques
Must have a passion for teaching in engineering
Familiarity with distance learning and willingness to use technology tools in instruction
Ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student centered methods of instructions
Possess excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills
Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
Start date for this Faculty position is scheduled on or before Fall Semester 2024
Doctoral stipend awarded in addition to base salary, as applicable
Preferences
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred
Previous curriculum development and recruitment experience a plus
Minimum two (2) years related industrial experience a plus
Minimum two (2) years college teaching experience desirable
Additional Requirements
The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
