Under supervision of the Director of Faculty Development and Support, the Faculty Development Lead for Career and Technical Education provides assessment and professional development services to part- and full-time CTE faculty to foster optimal student outcomes and success. The Faculty Development Lead for CTE develops, improves, and implements a faculty mentor program, professional development activities, and targeted trainings to improve faculty effectiveness.

This is a grant funded position. There is no guarantee of employment beyond the grant period, which ends June 30, 2026, although the college anticipates retention of this position beyond the initial grant period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate new hire orientation for adjunct Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructors.

  • Assist CTE faculty members in the cultivation of effective teaching strategies and use of the learning management systems.

  • Encourage and include mentees in networking activities with other professionals.

  • Act as a liaison between the administration and the adjunct.

  • Conduct observations of the mentee followed by debriefing sessions.

  • Develop professional relationships with new Career and Technical Education faculty through proactive emails, in-person meetings, and virtual discussions.

  • Provide help and share resources, ideas, and opportunities during scheduled, structured check-ins during academic semester/year.

  • Communicate processes for and monitor compliance with administrative processes and procedures.

  • Demonstrate a strong customer service and/or student advocacy through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem-solving and desire to identify and support student success.

  • Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued and supported.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Education:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.

  • Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, needs assessment, curriculum development and evaluation.

  • Familiarity with emerging trends and best practices in education, multiple teaching modalities and techniques, and

  • learning styles.

  • Ability to research, analyze, and applying relevant information to the development of departmental processes and programs.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, online Learning Management Systems (e.g. Canvas), and virtual meeting platforms (e.g. Zoom)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters's degree in Education or a related field.

  • Work effectively with diverse academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, and members of the community.

  • Proficiency in Banner Student, IvyAdvising, IvyLearn, Zoom and other modalities of student engagement and meeting platforms.

  • Career and Technical Education background

  • Experience in adult education.

Starting Salary Range: $52,000/annually

Classification: E1 (exempt)
