The faculty member will be responsible for teaching registered nursing content in the classroom, campus skills/simulation labs, and in clinical settings. Active participation in program development, implementation and evaluation is expected.
Required Qualifications
Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.). Applicants holding a Master's degree in a discipline other than nursing shall hold a Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited baccalaureate program in nursing and have at least six semester hours of graduate-level content in nursing appropriate to the area or teaching responsibility
Must have or be able to obtain an unencumbered license to practice professional nursing (Registered Nurse - RN) in the State of Texas
Must have been actively employed in nursing for the past three years or have advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education, and/or nursing administration
Proficient in the English language
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computer literate, including knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Experience in nursing commensurate with department needs and teaching assignment
Knowledge of equipment appropriate to the field of nursing
Must possess a valid Texas Driver's license, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College's insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications
Previous college teaching experience
Knowledge of instructional technology
Doctorate degree
Essential Functions
Fulfill faculty roles and responsibilities as outlined in Midland College Policy and Administrative Regulations as published in the Employee and Faculty Handbook
Teach classes and labs with a lecture equivalent hour (LEH) requirement commensurate with the program curriculum
Overload is paid as outlined in Midland College Policy and Administrative Regulations as published in the Employee and Faculty Handbook
Develop, implement, and evaluate the curriculum
Participate in the development, implementation, and enforcement of standards and policies
Develop familiarity with the Texas Board of Nursing's requirements for professional nursing programs and commit to maintaining the standards
Develop familiarity with the standards for the Commission for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and assist with program accreditation goals
Assist with education-related guidance and counseling of students
Supervise students in the clinical setting
Recommend textbooks and instructional materials to be used in the instructional program
Stay current with trends and innovations in nursing and education
Maintain academic and programmatic records as required by the College and accreditation/approval agencies and submit documentation in a timely manner
Help to orient new full-time and part-time instructors and clinical preceptors, as appropriate
Maintain a well-managed learning environment regardless of instructional location or modality
Communicate learning objectives to students
Identify students who are at risk for course failure and employ early interventions to promote student success
Develop appropriate high-quality assessments to measure the attainment of objectives
Continually improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing methodologies, techniques, and delivery techniques
Provide access to students through adherence to posted office hours and effective use of Canvas and electronic communication
Serve on departmental, division, and college-wide committees as requested
Participate in student recruitment and advising
Participate in graduation, nursing pinning ceremonies, and other required official college functions
Demonstrate responsibility to the teaching discipline and to the profession by participating in professional development activities
Contribute to the College and to the community through self-selected service activities
Initiate and maintain good public relations with appropriate community and healthcare entities
Other duties as assigned

Security Sensitivity

Min Salary $69,819 per year Max Salary $84,088 per year Pay Statement Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
