Salary Range

$3,000.00 depending on number of classes, semesters, & qualifications

Essential Functions

The University of Texas Permian Basin Department of Literature and Languages invites applications for Adjunct Faculty in Spanish to meet the needs of the current undergraduate and master's programs and to assist with development of current and future courses. The department seeks passionate candidates with experience teaching online courses in Spanish as a second language, advanced grammar and composition, Hispanic civilization, and Latin American and Peninsular literature at undergraduate and graduate level. The ideal candidate demonstrates innovative approaches to online education and has strong organizational and communication skills.

1.Teach one or two online courses per fall/spring semesters as needed.

2.Develop online course content consistent with institutional expectations.

3.Perform effective teaching activities, including virtual instruction, directing projects, and assisting students with coursework and research.

4.Provide timely and appropriate feedback to students.

5.Demonstrate and maintain competence in the use of instructional technology.

Required Qualifications

1.Earned PhD degree in Spanish or closely related discipline, or a PhD with a master's degree in Spanish, from an accredited institution.

2.Experience in teaching in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

1.Earned PhD degree in Spanish or closely related discipline from an accredited institution.

2.Experience in curriculum development.

3.Experience in online teaching and course development.

4.Evidence on novel approaches to education.

Schedule

Generally, the hours for this position are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions

1.Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

2.Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.

3.Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.

4.Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.

5.Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.

6.Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation.
