Caterpillar'sSurface Mining and Technology division is currently seeking a Factory Managerat its Decatur, IL facility. In this role, you will manage all aspects of themachining and assembly for all lower power train as well as the paint andshipping departments.
JobDuties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Running theday to day operations of the in the machining and assembly for all lower power trainas well as the paint and shipping departments with established objectives forsafety, quality, velocity and cost objectives.
Ensuring thesafest environment possible for our employees and visitors.
Ensuring the development and maintenance of facility environmental compliancepolicies and facility equipment to ensure adherence to corporate andgovernmental environmental and safety guidelines.
Developing an integrated annual business plan and ensuring continuousmonitoring of performance results against business plan.
Analyzing financial and operating results and developing and implementingsolutions to business problems.
Applying analytical skill and ability to understand the problems being facedin production and resolving them through innovation and inquiry. Displayinginnovative abilities in proposing changes or improvements in productionmethods, processes and in the introduction of new products.
Developing operational strategies and execution plans to: reduce variable andperiod cost; improve availability; improve quality; and improve employeesatisfaction and performance.
Ensuring maximum utilization of critical assets and effective operation tomeet production schedules.
Contributing to the planning and scheduling of product for maximum efficiencyand ensuring efficient integration of factory, material distribution,maintenance and quality to achieve profitable operations. This includes stronginvolvement in the S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) process to makesure the lower power train, paint and ship can meet its commitments.
Ensuring the levels of materials and work in progress are properly controlledand managed through the implementation of best practice Lean Management.
Providing guidance for future manufacturing technology implementation.
Responsible for various corporate and business unit initiatives such asLean/BIQ, CPS, 6 Sigma and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) implementation at theoperational level.
Represents the company in the local community.
5 years group manager experience in operations or supply chain.
2 years supply chain experience
6 Sigma black belt experience
Experience with a union workforce

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturingmethodology
Thorough technical understanding of the manufacturing process
Excellent management, motivational, human relations, communications, andproblem-solving skills
Demonstrated team-building skills
Experience with Caterpillar legacy ERP systems
