The SAS Advanced Manufacturing, Modernization, and Technology (AMMT) team is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative team member to lead automation projects in SAS Forest Consolidated Manufacturing Center.

This position will be responsible managing and executing automation projects within Forest CMC. The Operations Automation Project Manager will work for the Forest Automation Manager, and will coordinate with local factory leadership, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and front end of the business development (including roadmaps) to execute automation development and deployment and incorporate advanced Smart Factory/Industry 4.0 technologies. The position will be networked across SAS factories, which includes locations in El Segundo (CA), McKinney (TX), Forest (MS), Santa Barbara County (CA), and Largo (FL), in addition to operations and automation engineers from other Raytheon business units. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of automation deployment in a factory setting, including high mix, low volume production.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in automation development and deployment in a factory setting.

  • Experience in project management, as it relates to automation development and deployment, including MS Project schedule development, and financial measures/metrics.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop business cases and Return on Investment analyses for automation deployments.

  • 6 years professional engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 4 years being directly related to manufacturing, automation and/or controls.

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Desired Skills:

  • Understanding of Lean principles and terminology and/or six sigma black belt or equivalent

  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 / Smart Factory concepts, Digital Manufacturing Simulation

  • Understanding of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), ISA (International Society of Automation) 95 architectures.

  • Experience with cyber and/or cyber-physical systems security protocols

  • Experience with PLCs, MTConnect, and/or Transactional Automation (use of API, XML)

  • Ability to obtain an SSBI Clearance, or candidate holds Active SSBI.

  • Experience or education in systems engineering and application to automation systems.

Required Education:

  • BS in and Engineering field or the sciences

  • Desired Education:

  • MS in engineering or business related field (for example, systems engineering, manufacturing engineering, or industrial engineering, MBA, Business Management, Program Management)

The technician will perform a wide variety of technical tasks in support of processes, engineering, quality control, calibration, laboratories, production/test environment, line maintenance and/or chemical handling. The technician will utilize various engineering drawings, manuals and other related documentation in the performance of their tasks. The position will be responsible for selecting, set up and operating engineering equipment and may include configuration/data management; Checks for work correctness; May assist in directing work, assigning and outlining tasks to operators. Candidate will also be responsible for training/mentoring junior technicians. Tests, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains and installs a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical, equipment. Responsible for repair, maintenance, and alignment of the automated assembly equipment and supporting operations. Responsible for the execution of preventative maintenance and alignment procedures for equipment assigned. May assist in the development of procedures. Observes, analyzes and reports data; and when appropriate makes necessary repairs to equipment. Position requires working directly with factory production personnel and all other engineering teams.
