Job Description
Job Title: Facility Technician - Roofer Revised Date: November 2020 Department: Facilities FLSA Status: Non-exempt Work Year: 12 Months Salary Schedule: TSS - 260 day
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for completing roofing projects safely and within established time frame. This includes identifying potential repairs, performing inspections, maintaining roofs in proper condition, and maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.

Time 1. Performs routine maintenance and repairs, including sealing voids in flashing, membrane, seam tape, and detail work that is failing on large commercial roofs on schools. Support facility's, athletic complex's, outbuildings, and small sheds by using appropriate methods for repairs. Typical types of systems to be maintained include modified bitumen, built up tar, metal, ethylene propylene diene terpolymer, thermoplastic polyolefin membranes, and others. D 25% 2. Installs roofs, gutters, etc. to maintain facilities in a safe, comfortable, and operating condition, this may include new projects or additional adds to existing facilities. W 10% 3. Inspect and clean roofs on a regular basis, noting any deficiencies and keeping track of the roofs condition in a logbook in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Collaborate with the department supervisor and track the condition of all the roofs in the inventory; establish maintenance program to extend the life of each roof, then predict a replacement schedule based on your evaluation. D 15% 4. Inspect roofing systems after severe weather-related events and document sustained damages. Coordinate appropriate response with school district officials, notify the manufacturer, and the insurance company regarding the filing of a claim. M 5% 5. Regularly clean roof drainage systems to keep them open and flowing water freely off the roof at all times. Maintain, clean, and repair gutters and downspouts. W 10% 6. Coordinate, escort, and provide access for architects, contractors, insurance officials, and manufacturers' representatives during site visits pertaining to roof damage or roofing replacement projects. M 5% 7. Respond to emergency requests for assistance to protect students, staff, and property from harm both during and after hours. W 10% 8. Participate/contribute in bi-weekly safety meetings and complete annual safety objectives of the department. W 2% 9. Complete assigned tasks and document all work completed on the Cherwell work order system. D 8% 10. Research roofing materials and purchase appropriate items to be kept in inventory for maintenance and emergency repairs using school district purchasing card or coordinate issuance of purchase order. EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
Criminal background check required for hire.
Valid state issued Driver's License, required
Must obtain and maintain Defensive Driving certificate by the conclusion of the district-provided training course
Manufacturer Certified Installer, i.e. Firestone, Carlisle, Sarnafil, FiberTite, etc., preferred, but not required
