Summary

This position performs facility related duties, maintains facility related equipment, maintains production related support equipment, and maintains company vehicles.


Essential Function/Duties and

Responsibilities:

Operation

  • Completes all tasks utilizing the lockout/tagout system in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Coordinates equipment down time with Manufacturing Manager.

  • Provides after hours/holiday support for equipment maintenance and repair.

  • Correctly operates/maintains auxiliary equipment (i.e. case tapers, grinders, stackers, air compressors).

  • Is proficient with equipment troubleshooting and is able to identify equipment issues that must be resolved to minimize downtime.

  • Will install/repair electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and water system equipment.

  • Will perform carpentry, plumbing, janitorial and grounds keeping duties.

  • Orders replacement parts as needed for all systems and equipment.

  • Must be able to perform occasional work from ladders at heights above 10'.

  • Must be able to perform occasional work safely using the cherry picker at heights of about 30.

  • Works independently from blueprints, work orders and schematics.

  • Is qualified to operate various lift trucks used in Production.

  • Can perform all the required duties for the positions they can fill in for.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Follow procedures for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual machine inspection, preventive maintenance, cleaning, and brings to the attention of supervision any items that may need to be corrected.

  • Ensures that Lockout/Tagout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.

Troubleshooting

  • Ability to correctly troubleshoot equipment.

  • Correctly and timely identify the root cause and makes the necessary corrections for problems such as air leaks, water leaks, strange equipment noises, etc.

Administration/Documentation

  • Properly completes paperwork, maintains accurate log books and other administrative documentation and duties.

  • Maintains expertise in the Production Machine Data Transducer (MDT).

  • Accurately communicates shift change information.

Product Safety and Quality

  • Follows Product Safety and Quality standards

  • Follows FDA GMPs in regards to food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee

Safety

  • Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE)

  • Practices good housekeeping including clutter-free work area and general cleaning; follows FDA product safety standards, follows IPC product defense standards and complies with all SQF requirements

  • Ensures lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained

Miscellaneous

  • Ability to work independently and responsibly. Good people skills required interacting with other personnel and management. Must have patience and a methodical approach to work. Must be able to determine root causes of failure.

  • To service and troubleshoot various building support equipment; be able to use the following machines and equipment: Drill press, grinders, torques, stick welder, table saw, hi-lift ladders, basic power tools and common hand tools.

  • Forklift operation certified. Maintain current forklift operation certification.

  • Maintains a good attendance record.

  • Generally willing to work overtime and holidays.

  • Assists in facility shut-down and start-up as necessary.

VIEW JOBS 6/18/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-09-16T00:00 Description This position is responsible for the work that involves performing semi-skilled and skilled structural with any and all aspects of the construction, alterations, maintenance, and repair of county buildings and structures. Examples of Duties Responds to service and emergency calls regarding building maintenance problems. Performs highly skilled/semi-skilled maintenance, diagnostic evaluations and repair work on County buildings and facilities. Work involves a combination of trade areas, which includes experience in plumbing, electrical and/or heading, ventilation and air conditioning and carpentry. Work si performed to ensure structural safety; proper functioning and operations; and compliance with applicable standards, policies and practices. Installs, maintains, diagnosis and repairs building systems and related structures and components such as plumbing, electrical and/or mechanical systems; and performs work in teh installation, construction, remodeling and repairing of building structures, interiors and exteriors. Inspects and adjusts mechanical systems such as boilers, chillers, and water heaters. Performs a full range of tasks to include construction and installation, inspecting, diagnosing and troubleshooting; repairing and replacing components; removing and/or demolishing old components; and hauling materials, supplies, and tools. Performs and/or assists in preventative maintenance on heading, ventilation, HVAC, and ice machines. Reads and interprets blueprints, plans, and schematics of systems/structures being repaired. Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by technical school course work in the electrical, plumbing, or carpentry trades. Five (5) years of responsible work experience in building construction and maintenance work. Possession of a valid Georgia driver's license. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Knowledge, Skill, Abilities/ Supplemental Information Knowledge of the Southern Uniform Building Code, County Ordinances, laws and construction standards as they are related to the building trades profession. Knowledge of the N.E.C (National Electrical Code) , County ordinances and regulations that directly relate to assigned duties; knowledge of the methods, practices and procedures in the Electrical and Tradesman areas as they apply to the construction, alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings. Knowledge of methods, practices and procedures in the electrical, building, carpentry, HVAC, and plumbing trade areas. Skill in efficiently and safely operating a variety of power tools used in electrical and/or building construction work. Ability to plan, organize, and complete work with limited supervision. Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and shop drawings; Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions; Ability to deal courteously with County Officials, County employees, and the general public.
