The Petersburg Family YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Greater Richmond, is seeking a mission-driven, enthusiastic Facility Supervisor to ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of buildings, grounds, and mechanical equipment. The hours are 25 per week; nights and weekends may be required.

DUTIES

Accountability

Report directly to the Property/Operations Director. Keep him/her informed of plans, progress and problems.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Minimum three years of maintenance and landscaping experience. Required to have knowledge and understanding of, as well as perform maintenance and/or repairs in the areas of: construction, electrical and mechanical, plumbing, landscaping and grounds keeping. Willingness to perform a variety of services, in all kinds of weather, and to take direction from a management and work with members/volunteers is important.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time, and sufficient strength to lift and carry 50 pounds. Ability to carry out maintenance duties including general repair and cleaning. Use of ladder and various tools essential. Must be able to communicate effectively with others.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Interpret, communicate, and promote Y mission, goals, and objectives to department employees, volunteer leaders, members, and the community.

  • Be an active leader in membership retention goals and in the annual giving campaign.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with members and staff.

  • Manage the upkeep and repair of the building, grounds, and equipment of the branch.

  • Implement the preventive maintenance program and schedules.

  • Implement weekly quality inspections of property to ensure upkeep and cleanliness as assigned.

  • Administer and maintain an effective system of records and reports for buildings, equipment and grounds.

  • May assist in monitoring budget to ensure that all expenses relating to buildings, grounds, and equipment are in line with budget and/or forecast.

  • Supervise facility cleaning staff.

  • May serve as manager on duty.

Candidates should be results driven and able to build relationships with team members. QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. A minimum of two years experience in sports or youth development programs is required. A degree in a related field is preferred. Must be proficient with a computer and MS Office.
