Job Description

Western Nevada College is recruiting for a Facility Supervisor 3. This position will be responsible for the daily operations and job progress of multiple tradespersons and will perform lead journeyman duties as required. Primary duties include but are not limited to establishing, assigning and evaluating and revising work schedules, duties, priorities and leave; ensure efficiency and thoroughness of assigned trades; lead, manage and supervise the workflow and job progress of the Maintenance Repair Specialists, and Workers whom are responsible for duties such as carpentry, painting, welding, door/windows, plumbing, grounds work, roofing etc.; and perform lead journeyman duties as required.

This position serves three campuses and requires periodic travel to Fallon and Douglas County.

This position must have working knowledge of commercial HVACR systems/ Controls systems and be able to manage and supervise the workflow of the assigned HVACR technician, managing and monitoring the quarterly and yearly preventative maintenance work orders for these mechanical systems.

Other duties include monitoring budget, inventory and expenditures, ensuring required documents and records are maintained in accordance with established standards (including but not limited to documentation inspection of elevators and fire inspections). Identify, promote, and manage projects related to upgrading, retrofitting, or replacing building systems and/or equipment; plan projects in accordance with code requirements, research and purchase appropriate materials; select work and assist outside contractors, various trades, vendors, Risk Management, Planning and Construction, and the Campus Community; and review blueprints and specifications for upcoming projects and renovations. Assisting the Director of Facilities, Planning and Construction with construction projects and renovations, including acting as owner's representative as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and five (5) years of building and facilities maintenance or construction experience which must have included project planning, preparation of cost estimates and budgets, scheduling and project management. Two (2) years of the experience must have included supervision of skilled trades workers and semi-skilled workers; OR

  • One (1) year of experience as a Facility Supervisor II in Nevada State service; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

A valid Class "C" driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Ability to operate snowplow, Forklift, Heavy Machinery (Backhoe, Tractor, Aerial Lift).

Upon hire or within specified time period by department receive certifications for OSHA 10/30, Defensive Driving and Fire Extinguisher training.

Physical Demands

Lifting up to 50 pounds, moving of office furniture and equipment. May be exposed to hazardous materials, chemicals or hazardous work environments including roofs, enclosed spaces, laboratories, and workshop environments and inclement weather. This position is considered an essential employee.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Compensation Grade

Grade 35

The classified employee pay scale is divided into 10 steps within each grade. Most employees start at a step 1 and are eligible for an annual step increase with satisfactory performance, until they reach the maximum, step 10. Classified employees are eligible for any legislatively approved cost of living increases (COLA).
