We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented applicants for role of Facility Service Worker II. The ideal candidate performs cleaning functions in assigned areas of the facility, including Veteran rooms, staff areas, offices, and public areas and performs other related duties including sweeping, dust mopping, and wet mopping floor surfaces; cleaning windows, walls, woodworks, drapery, light fixtures, and equipment and emptying trash receptacles. Assignments may not be consistent from day-to-day; therefore, candidate must be flexible and willing to perform the assigned duties as outlined below.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Maintain professional behavior and interacts politely with Veterans, visitors and staff.

  • Remove trash, twice daily, from assigned area/Care Center.

  • Dry-mop entire Care Center/areas, nursing station, kitchen, etc.

  • Wet-mop entire Care Center/areas, nursing station, kitchen, etc.

  • Daily, clean all bathrooms thoroughly.

  • Wash windows, lights, vents, walls, and tiles in bathroom as required.

  • Keep drains free flowing.

  • Wash handrails, wheelchairs and Geri-chairs when dirty.

  • Clean work closet, daily.

  • Buff floors, strip and refinish floors as needed.

  • Set-up for parties, etc. as needed.

  • Wash trash cans, weekly.

  • Remove and rehang cubicle and window curtains when laundered.

  • Keep equipment clean.

  • Infectious waste pick up.

  • Performs related duties as required.

Schedule:

This is a Full-time, first-shift 7:00am-3:30pm, 40 hour a week position, with alternating weekends, holidays as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive) - * Serve food to veterans and staff in the dining room; * After each meal, clean all table tops in the dining room, sweep dining room floor and set dining room tables with placemat and utensils; * Clean dining room equipment (i.e. microwave, coffee machine soda machine, ice cream machine and bread machine, etc.; * Basic food preparation such as cutting cake/pies, portioning condiments in soufflé cups, etc.; * Wraps silverware to help with tray set up; * Operates garbage disposal and dish machine; * Washes pots & pans as assigned; * Reads recreation requisition sheets daily and sets up cart with necessary requested food for function. * Puts delivered orders away as assigned; * Delivers loaded food trucks to the necessary floors so the veterans can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner meals; * Cleans the inside and outside of all used food trucks after each meal; * Follows instructions and completes assignments given by supervisor; * Dates and labels food items in the refrigerator and freezer; * Delivers nourishments to the floors by following par levels on the nourishment sheets; * Fulfills late requests such as preparing veterans tray with necessary food and delivering meal to veteran; * Sweep, mop and use machine to clean tile floor; * Completes all job tasks as posted on the job flow board in the kitchen; SCHEDULE: This is a part-time, 20-hour a week position, with alternating weekends ABOUT THE SOLDIERS' HOME IN HOLYOKE - The Soldiers' Home in Holyoke is a state-funded, fully accredited health care facility that offers veterans quality health care, including full-time residential accommodations, an on-site dental clinic, a multi-service outpatient department and provides educational and social services for approximately 5000 veterans.
