The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking a compassionate nursing professional to fill a Facility Registered Nurse II (RN 2) position for the Wrentham Developmental Center. The RN 2 will confer with health care professionals, assess outcomes of care provided, provide training to staff related to health care procedures, participate in the orientation of new nursing personnel, and perform related.
Wrentham Developmental Center RN's are assigned to a unit as a clinical nurse, they participate in the delivery of health care services to individuals with Intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as participate in direct and indirect nursing care, health maintenance and collaborative planning in order to meet the health care needs of all residents. The RN 2 will be required to provide supervision to the LPN 1, LPN II, and RN 1 staff assigned to their unit and will work in collaboration with Nursing Supervisory staff to provide safe and effective nursing care.
Duties and Responsibilities:(these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
Function as a first responder in an emergency or crisis situations.
Provide exceptional nursing care and episodic health needs through assessment, continuous observation, evaluation of interventions and changes within the health care plan.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with medical provider orders, policies, and procedures.
Stay abreast of resident's health and functional status by interview, examination and review of records and reports.
Perform all clinical tasks in adherence to acceptable standards of nursing practice to ensure that all delivery of care provided is safe and effective.
Required Qualifications:
Applicant must possess a current and active Massachusetts Registered Nursing (RN) license to practice as an RN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Incumbents must obtain and maintain Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Composure to work in stressful situations, maintain a calm manner, utilize sound judgment, make decisions and act quickly in emergency situations.
Ability to maintain accurate records and use discretion in handling confidential information.
Excellent written and verbal skills communicate clearly and concisely in and ability to give oral instructions in a precise and understandable manner.
Familiarity with safety practices and medical terminology/abbreviations.
Knowledge of standard nursing policies, procedures, methods and techniques.
Agency Requirements:
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Possess a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's license or equivalent license from the state in which you reside.
Please note:
This position is designated as an "EMERGENCY" position in the Department of Developmental Services Emergency Plan. This means that whenever the Governor declares that the Commonwealth is in a state of emergency, selected candidate be required to report to work.
This RNII position is in a program that operates 24-hour/7 days a week. Candidates must be flexible in their work schedule. The Department requires employees in this position to be able to perform Mandatory Overtime when circumstances dictate the need.
Schedule Information:
Full-time
First shift
Days off: Every other weekend with days off in the alternating weeks to meet the needs of the department.
Flexibility with work schedule will be required for this position.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic or medical facility, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

I. A Graduate degree with a major in Nursing may be substituted for the required experience .*
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL LEVELS IN SERIES: Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license may be required.
