General Position Summary:
Prepares and paints production machinery following repair/maintenance schedule. Prepares and paints facility. Prepares and paints safety items. Keep a running inventory of paint and supplies.
Mask (covers) equipment, windows, rail car parts, paints facility, removes all prep work, replace worn out lines and guns, and sweeps up painting
Specific Job Skills:
Familiar with spray gun, air line (25-50'), spray tips, mill gauge, respirator.
Ability to work in environment of 0-100 degrees in all weather conditions with noise, paint fumes, some hazardous materials and waste.
Locks out machinery to be painted.
Clears area of debris to remove tripping hazards.
Cleans machinery with solvents, brush, scrapper, and rags.
Masks machinery to protect unpainted areas and essential nameplate information.
Paints machinery using rollers, brushes and/or spray gun.
Paints the facility using rollers, brushes, and/or spray gun
Look for safety or painting jobs.
Ordering parts and supplies.
Keep running inventory of paint and supplies.
Keep painting equipment clean and in good running order.
Be able to coordinate painting jobs with other departments.
Bid and complete assigned jobs in a timely and professional manner.
Must obtain lockout tag out certification after employment
Must obtain confined space training after employment
Must obtain fall protection and Arial man lift certification after employment.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Must pass written and practical paint test
At least two years of painting experience required
Spraying experience required.
Lift, carry, push and or pull 1- 50 lbs for 1 -- 3 hours per day
Bend, twist, kneel, walk, climb and reach for 1 -- 6 hours per day
Sit, stand and walk for 1 -- 8 hours per day
Able to hold weight of gun in hand for extended period of time
Must be able to work all shifts
