Facility Operations Assistant/Housekeeping Supervisor

Summary: this position assists the Director of Facility Operations in the maintaining the cleanliness of facility, assuring that room setups are being completed on time and accurately and monitoring campus security presence.

Security

  • Verify that security equipment is functioning properly;

  • Confirm that officers are present when scheduled; report attendance issues directly to security vendor.

  • Review and approve security invoices for payment.

Housekeeping

  • Oversee a diverse team of well-trained housekeepers by modeling the way, by empowering, by recognizing and rewarding top performers and coaching throughout the employment lifecycle;

  • As Housekeeping Supervisor, responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling

  • Verify that adequate housekeeping coverage is occurring (especially on weekends)

  • Assist in hiring new staff

  • Monitor productivity of staff

  • Address any performance problems quickly and appropriate

  • Conduct quarterly performance assessments and performance reviews

  • Process bi-weekly payroll;

  • Use HRIS system to track/approve requests for PTO from staff;

  • Enroll new employees in bio-metric time clock;

  • Develop housekeeping checklists and tour facilities daily to assure housekeeping tasks are being completed;

  • Follow up withstaff to review checklists;

  • Assist in monitoring facility upkeep (e.g. reporting burned out light bulbs, malfunctioning door locks, water damage, etc.)

  • Assist in tracking repairs in key areas of the building;

  • Assist with housekeeping duties as required;

  • Expand purchasing function to include Housekeeping Supplies, basic Maintenance Supplies, and first aid materials;

  • Maintain first-aid supplies in various locations throughout the building where kits are located

Facility Operations

  • Verify daily room set-ups are completed

  • Coordinate staff resources to complete room setups and breakdowns

  • Clarify and confirm room setups with Event Rental Coordinator

  • Assist with setups and breakdowns as necessary

  • Monitor condition of equipment, furniture, etc. and report problems to Director of Facility Operations

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of housekeeping in multi-use facility;

  • Supervisory experience required;

  • Excellent communication skills with a variety of constituents;

  • Must be able to operate a two-way radio, cleaning equipment and general office equipment;

  • Must be proficient in using a computer and Microsoft applications

  • Strong interpersonal skills (ability to build and maintain teamwork);

  • Must be detail oriented and have a can-do attitude

Supervisory skills are required. You must be able to communicate effectively with staff, management and guests, and a second language may be required. The ability to operate a two-way radio, cleaning and general office equipment, including a computer, is expected. This position requires continuous movement and standing, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and push or pull up to 35 pounds.
