SUMMARY
The Facility Operations and Event Assistant is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations of the Applied Technology Center, an academic and event building on the main campus of GRCC. This position will support the Coordinator for Facility and Event Operations with facility management and event operations. This position will also oversee the volleyball and basketball events that take place in the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse Arena. This position will be required to flex time to work some nights and weekends for facility functions and events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Applied Technology Center (ATC).
Assist in creating a safe, secure, functional, and inclusive environment within the ATC for students, faculty, staff, and members of our community.
Prepare the various areas of the ATC for their scheduled use based on the daily schedule.
Communicate regularly with campus service departments regarding scheduled events to address event needs for food services, parking, security, HVAC, media, tech support, etc.
Coordinate with event planners for set up needs, media/audio visual resources, food and beverage services, etc.
Facilitate prospective client tours of event spaces.
Check cleanliness of tables, chairs, and carpet after events during the tear down of events.
Oversee game operations for GRCC Volleyball and GRCC Basketball home contests that take place in the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse Arena.
Schedule, train, and help assist the score table attendants during home contests.
Assist with facility preparation for various home athletic contests.
Develop and maintain positive relations with the campus community to support student and employee events.
Ability to organize and direct personnel during a crisis or emergency situation.
Serve as a backup coordinator for the ATC.
Serve as a backup coordinator for the Ford Fieldhouse.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator for Facility and Event Operations for the ATC or the Director of the Ford Fieldhouse.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education Credentials
Work Experience
1-2 years of experience working in facility operations and/or event management required.
Scheduling and training experience of staff is preferred.
Skills
Strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively, but also able to work independently at times
Ability to maintain a positive customer and student-oriented approach in a demanding work environment.
Must be able to work effectively and collegially with diverse personnel, including faculty, administration, staff, students, and external clients.
Physical Demands
Sitting, perform desk-based computer tasks.
Lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to traverse campus buildings to accomplish projects, meetings, and oversight of physical spaces.
Mental Demands
Possess mature judgment and be flexible in regards to interruptions and ability to handle pressure situations.
Must use good judgment in handling sensitive, confidential, or difficult situations.
Working Conditions

Must be able to work a flexible schedule (i.e. evenings) including occasional weekends.
