Responsibilities

Staffing Duties:

Maintain the department fully staffed, complying promptly with recruiter requests to telephone interested candidates as needed. The Facility Medical Director should interview candidates when not occupied with clinical duties.Create a schedule, which is equitable, periodically working all types of shifts.Appropriately divide time at hospital between clinical and administrative duties.Complete staffing schedule according to NMP policy.

Educational Duties:

Orient all new providers to the department. This should be done as a formal process using a checklist. It is estimated that four (4) hours will be spent in orienting new providers prior to their starting clinical work.Ensure that new providers are closely supervised during their first few shifts.Consistently transmits to providers all information and directives from Corporate.Ensure compliance amongst providers with educational programs; to include compliance-training, blood borne pathogen training and patient safety solutions.Present educational topics to staff on a regular basis.Orients new hospital Attending Providers to the ED, including policies, procedures and conflict resolution.

Operations:

Spend adequate time at hospital outside clinical shifts to fulfill administrative duties.At all times provide direction and leadership for the ED.Meet regularly with nursing, hospital administration, and directors of ancillary departments, as well as hospital Risk Manager.Have regular, formal ED department meetings with written minutes.Belong to appropriate hospital committees and ensure ED physician participation in the hospital committee structure.Participate in hospital activities and be involved in the community, as well as participating in medical staff activities.

Performance Improvement:

Conduct a comprehensive performance improvement program in the department.Regularly communicate the results of PI activities to hospital management and medical staff.Institute "Best Practices" initiatives as appropriate.Cooperate fully with hospital to successfully undergo Joint Commission inspections.

Risk Management:

Periodic review of chart documentation by ED physicians.Oversight of the Emergency Department Continuous Quality Improvement process protected under the auspices of the Medical Staff by-laws.Supervision of the ED practitioners, including: orientation of new providers, periodic performance evaluation, counseling, as necessary.Complaint management and monitoring.Participation in the Risk Management Quality Initiatives.Participation in Corporate Quality Initiatives as requested.

Corporate Support:

Promote a positive image for National Medical Professionals amongst physicians and hospital personnel.Accomplish specific tasks assigned by EMD and comply with reporting requirements

Assist staff in ensuring that physicians comply with NMP requirements regarding credentialing, educational efforts and incidents reporting.Fulfill contractual obligations to the hospital.Cooperate with QA initiatives of the hospital in conjunction with Corporate to accomplish assigned initiatives.QualificationsBC or BE in Emergency Medicine.BC Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine with a minimum of 3 years of emergency medicine experience.Previous management and leadership experience in an ED setting.Excellent communication skills.Strong clinical skills.

Professional Competencies:

Maintain personal credentials to include licensure, DEA registration, Board Certification and additional requirements such as ACLS, ATLS, PALS as required by hospital or contract.Stay current on best practices in the specialty through a personal program of C.M.E.Consistently demonstrate effective communication, negotiation and conflict skills.Maintain a positive and optimistic attitude in the performance of duties.

As a newborn hearing screener, you will provide hearing screens in the hospital to babies who may be just a few days old. You need great communication skills as well as the interest and ability to learn; we will provide you with the rest of the training you need to succeed. On a typical day, you will conduct newborn hearing screens, usually in a new mom's hospital room, and help educate parents about the importance of the screen using video and printed tools we provide. You will also be in charge of entering patient data and validation of hearing screens, as needed. Additional responsibilities may include helping to confirm or reschedule outpatient appointments, following up on any equipment issues and training new staff. Responsibilities * Performs hearing screens on newborns in the parent's room (unless conditions do not permit) using guidelines and protocols established and approved by the Newborn Hearing Screen Program of MEDNAX by Program Coordinator, Regional Leader, or Hearing Screen Coordinator during training. * Observes and adheres to Universal Precautions for Infection Control as required by MEDNAX, OSHA, The Joint Commission and the respective facility/facilities where performing work. * Observes and adheres to company and department policies and procedures. * Adheres to program guidelines regarding screen results, verifying insurance information with parent and following proper batching procedures for billing. * Follows established guidelines for security and identification of infants as established by the Newborn Hearing Screen Program within the program manual located on site. * Provides educational information and literature regarding the importance of early intervention and prevention of hearing loss to the parent or guardian. * Follows company procedures regarding the input of data into the hearing screen equipment. Downloads data from the hearing screen equipment and uploads to Soundata when requested. * Participates in company and facility based orientation, classes, etc., including HIPAA training, to update or improve upon the procedures or protocol of, and/or to maintain a relevant knowledge of the Newborn Hearing Screen Program. * Follows hospital policies and procedures, including but not limited to proper patient identification, compliance, infection control, and safety awareness. * Recognizes potential problems and obtains assistance when necessary in a timely manner. * Assists coordinator in confirming or rescheduling outpatient appointments, following up with equipment issues and training new staff as needed. * Earn and maintain CPR certification. * Other duties as assigned.
