The Facilities Maintenance Worker I is responsible for:

• Maintains cleanliness in the building and on the grounds

• Helps with needed preventive maintenance

• Helps to maintain equipment

• Helps to complete minor repairs

• Provides assistance to other departments, as needed

• Helps with set-up for events and exhibits

• Maintains standards for personnel performance and customer service

The Facilities Maintenance Worker I is expected to perform all duties to the best of their ability, act in a responsible manner at all times, demonstrate excellent leadership qualities and treat all staff and patrons with respect.

This role requires maturity, reliability, and self-discipline. Must be knowledgeable in the following areas: equipment maintenance, sanitation, safety and accident prevention and customer relations.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age.

Working Conditions

Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures. Must follow safety procedures, such as utilization of eye and ear protection, when utilizing certain mechanical equipment.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
