Facility Maintenance Technician I-Structural

The City of Chesapeake Public Works Department, Facility Maintenance Division is currently accepting applications for one full-time Facility Maintenance Technician I position.

Chesapeake Public Works is seeking a motivated and detailed-oriented individual to maintain and repair structural components of city buildings, with special emphasis on carpentry and basic structural preventative maintenance. Do you enjoy working with your hands? Are you a hard worker and enjoy accomplishing a project? Are you a creative person with good communication and interpersonal skills; then, we would like to meet with you and discuss your qualifications for this position.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Perform all types of normal structural maintenance and repair including some

minor construction. This may include supervision of contractors performing

similar work, to include inspection and quality assurance.

• Perform minor modifications to structures during renovation projects.

• Repair shingle and built-up roofing systems.

• Maintain necessary city records and purchase materials.
