Position Summary:

Successful Facility Maintenance Team Members enjoy multitasking in order to maintain the order and efficiency of a manufacturing facility by performing light maintenance.Facility Maintenance Custodians strive to provide a safe working atmosphere for all Highwood team members.They are well organized, self-motivated and able to work with little to no supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety procedures, maintain a clean and safe work area; proactively identifying safety concerns and taking necessary steps to avoid and eliminate hazards
  • Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams & drawings
  • Perform minor repairs or general maintenance work of facilities, buildings and grounds at various sites including minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting tasks
  • Assist with assembly or repair of mechanical parts, pieces, machines using a variety of tools and equipment
  • Assist with ground maintenance including use of lawn care and snow removal equipment
  • Complete scheduled work orders
  • Ensure necessary materials and supplies are acquired to complete all tasks
  • Able to safely and efficiently use various power and hand tools
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers to make sure all tasks are completed in a timely manner
  • Notify management of concerns regarding safety issues or anything needing major repairs
  • Team member will be required to travel to both locations based on the need
  • Accomplish any other duties, which may be assigned by your immediate manager and accommodate reasonable staff requests

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or equivalency, with 2 years related experience

Language Skills

Able to comprehend & communicate in the English Language to perform the duties of this position

Mathematical Skills

Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Possess the ability to accurately read a tape measure.

Reasoning Ability

Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Work will be performed in a combination of manufacturing and office environments and may be exposed to production elements such as noise, dust, odors, etc.
  • Must wear safety glasses, the noise level in the plant meets OSHA requirements for hearing protection so appropriate hearing protection is required in designated areas.
  • Be comfortable working outside in varying weather including rain, snow and heat
  • Electrical and mechanical dangers may be present and the team member is required to take appropriate safety measures to protect themselves and others at all times from injury
  • Other dangers will be present from time-to-time when lifting, hoisting, moving equipment, and the team member is required to take appropriate safety measures to protect themselves and others at all times from injury
  • The team member will be working in close proximity of rotating machinery, grinders, welders, various types of saws and cutters, where they will be required to take the appropriate safety measures to protect themselves and others at all time from injury.

Position Purpose The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for the preventative and reactive maintenance of all equipment within the facility. This will include such jobs that require a relatively high skill level having a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the processes involved in their work. Candidates for this position will be required to exercise considerable independent judgment and usually receive an extensive period of training. Maintenance Technicians may work in a cold or warm environment doing a variety of tasks such as troubleshooting repairing work, performing preventative maintenance, working around raw meat, working with industrial electricity, hydraulics, bearings, welding, pneumatics, PLC's, vibration analysis, basic waste water, and basic ammonia refrigeration and various buildings and grounds work. Tools may be used including drills, saws, cutting disks, wire brush, hammer, screwdrivers, measuring tools, clamps, wrenches, work stands, pullers, etc. These roles require candidates to wear personal protective equipment and work within food safety requirements in order to deliver a safe product to the consumer. Principal Accountabilities 60% - Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) and failure Maintenance within the facility. 20% - Respond to emergency breakdown calls in the facility. 15% - Lead duties as assigned including following up on work performed by team members, ordering parts, and directing emergency repair calls by priority. 5% - Conduct daily line assignments by receiving a PM and walking assigned production lines. Required Qualifications * At least one year of experience troubleshooting industrial electrical and control systems * One year experience working and acting as a lead in a team environment. * Proficient in mechanical repair and troubleshooting. * Knowledge the PM (Preventative Maintenance) program. * Ability read, write, and speak English. * High school diploma or GED required. * Ability to lift 50 lbs.
