Examples of Work
Supervise and work along side skilled carpenters and workers of related trades in the restoration, maintenance, and new construction of Game and Parks Commission facilities. Inspect and evaluate the needed repair of Game and Parks owned buildings.
Work with engineers/architects in the blueprint or design stage of project. Submit material lists and cost estimates using a computer with Microsoft Office software to requisition material. Schedule deliveries and maintain appropriate records as needed on assigned projects.
Interview and hire skilled personnel as required for various projects. Maintain and submit job cost and progress reports. Perform related work as required. Overnight out of town travel will be required.
Job location is Fort Robinson State Park.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Associate's degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, HVAC, welding, or other skilled maintenance trades/crafts, and one year of experience in these trade/craft areas. OR Three years of experience in skilled maintenance, construction, or mechanical trades/crafts and experience in monitoring, coordinating, leading, or supervising the work of maintenance staff and/or projects.
PREFERRED: Seven years of experience in building and trades construction, and 3 years of applied construction computer skills.
OTHER: Valid driver's license or able to provide independent authorized transportation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of construction equipment, tools, methods and practices used in building construction, repair, and maintenance. Ability to read and make material lists from blueprints.
Estimate construction cost and develop timelines for completion of projects. Supervise subordinates and maintain detailed records of construction progress. The ability to obtain a class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with an "L" restriction (Combination vehicle without air brakes), will be necessary.
