Overview

Company Information: Horton, Inc., a global airflow industry leader in reliability, service and innovation has an opening for a 3rd shift Facility Lead to work in our Westminster, SC location. Facility Lead will assist Managers, Supervisors, and Group Lead by giving support to departments and updating leadership daily. These responsibilities are in addition to regular job duties.

Position Summary:

Performs normal duties as well as lead person duties. Lead person duties include assisting internal employees and outside customers, completing documentation, scheduling, and leading production, and coordinating training and ensuring completion of job skills assessments. Lead person must also maintain a thorough understanding of and adhere to company policies and procedures and give input to area manager as required. Problem solving skills are essential to keep plant running in absence of manager.

Responsibilities

  • Will make educated decisions for the shift when issues arise that are not to plan.

  • Assist personnel with equipment operation, equipment malfunctions, missing parts, print and work order questions, etc. by determining appropriate resource to contact for solution.

  • Assist personnel in completing paperwork, etc.

  • Keeps area managers/supervisors/group leads informed of problems and concerns / issues of department (verbally, written or by email).

  • Ensures that housekeeping activities are maintained consistently, and designated work area is kept neat and clean.

  • Develops, executes, and adjusts production schedule as required to meet the needs of internal and external customers; prioritizes jobs and coordinates work assignments/work orders; works with inventory processes and makes adjustments as required.

  • Personally, and with the assistance of knowledgeable workers provides training and direction relating interaction skills, quality methods and manufacturing processes with the overall goal of improving quality and efficiency. Ensures completion of trainee job skills assessments.

  • Seek ways to improve methods and processes.

  • Consults with the managers/supervisors to discuss work force availability and schedules/utilizes staff in an effective manner to meet customer needs.

  • Understands and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures.

  • Keeps managers/supervisor informed of policy and discipline issues.

  • Answers phone, monitors building entries and locks doors and turns off lights at end of shift.

  • Assists managers/supervisors by giving input for Performance Appraisal completion.

  • Completes paperwork and documentation as required by managers/supervisors. (i.e. accident investigation forms, personnel issues, etc. and any other pertinent forms)

  • Performs duties according to position description when not performing lead person duties.

  • Must always be completely self-directed.

  • Needs to have the highest standard of confidentiality.

  • Must be able to remain neutral, and not show favoritism towards any one employee.

  • Must always keep a positive attitude, throughout busy times as well as changing times.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree or higher is preferred. Good communication skills both verbally and written. Attendance, quality, productivity, and behavior will also be considered.

Must have legal authorization to work in the United States. Relocation allowance may be provided if the individual has all of the necessary qualifications.

Position Information: This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and must work in coordination with co-workers to be effective. This position is primarily responsible for the production of quality product by operating different types of machinery to assemble product. This opening is for 3rd shift and associates will need to train on 1st shift. Responsibilities 1. Will be expected to be able to perform daily tasks. 1.1 Read and follow instructions on routings and work instructions for each job. 1.2 Checks stock bins for adequate supplies of sub-assembly, parts and any other items needed. Contacts material handler or Production Lead and Area Manager if shortages exist. 1.3 Complete all departmental paperwork, such as routings, assembly tickets, downtime tracking sheets, production status sheets and daily checklists. Communicate questions and problems to Lead or Area Manager 1.4 Assemble product as instructed on work instructions or routings. 1.5 Responsible for the safe operation of machinery used for pre-assembly components. Machinery may vary from hand tools to large stamping or molding presses as determined by area. 1.6 Perform frequent quality checks as directed by management or a Quality Representative. May be required to use quality inspection tools such as gauges, micrometers and/or calipers. Continuously inspect part quality. 1.7 Relay all information about current job to oncoming shift. 1.8 Maintain production rate on each job. 2. Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions and blueprint specifications. Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies. 3. Verifies quality specifications by measuring completed component/product. Will be responsible for the operation and set-up of all simple and complex machines within their assigned area. 4. Ensure data accuracy before transacting in inventory system. Elevate issues or suspected discrepancies to management. 5. Will be required to fill in as Operator in other departments as directed/rotated. 6. Train new operators when assigned. 7. Practice 6S and maintain clean and safe work areas at all times. 8. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications EMPLOYMENT SELECTION CRITERIA: A high school diploma, or equivalent (GED), is required. Previous relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Ability to work well in a group and individually. Some degree of mechanical aptitude may be required. Previous experience with presses or similar equipment may be essential. JOB SKILLS REQUIRED: Must be able to perform all the tasks of an Operator I in addition to the operation of all machines within their area as follows: Stamping - Spiders Form and Pierce; Blades Blank, Roll and Form; Laminate - Automation. Assembly - Riveter Assembly; Quads and 11-Leg; WindShift; ShoGun; True-up and Balance; Paint Load, Unload and Ship.
