DESCRIPTION

Do you enjoy interacting with others and providing excellent customer service? APPLY TODAYand join our Recreation Division to support our many facilities and their events! We serve the community by providing space for recreation classes and private rentals. You will work in one of three recreation facilities: the Napa Senior Center, the Las Flores Community Center, and the Pelusi Building in Kennedy Park.

This is a part-time position that works approximately 5-20 hours per week, depending on the needs of the division. We are looking for individuals with flexible schedules who are willing to work some weekends and holidays.

Part-time positions are not to exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Temporary and part-time employees are at-will and not covered by the Civil Service System. Some benefits for temporary employees include sick leave, temporary employee retirement plan, and 3.5% bilingual pay if applicable.

TYPICAL TASKS

  • Greets and assists building visitors.

  • Advises and implements the facility's safety rules and procedures.

  • Prepares beverages and snacks for guests.

  • Registers participants in programs and records facility rentals in an electronic computer system.

  • Sets up and removes chairs, tables, audio-visual materials, and other furniture and equipment.

  • Sweeps and mops floors, empties trash containers and fills paper dispensers, before and during as needed and after every event.

  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms; replaces supplies as needed.

  • Operates kitchen equipment, public address systems, stage and room light control panels, stage curtains and backstage facilities, demonstrates their accurate use to visitors.

  • Inspects the building during close, returns equipment to its proper place, turns off lights and running water, and locks the facility after use.

  • Adjusts to interruptions, sudden workload changes, difficult assignments and situations while remaining calm and productive.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

  • Previous customer service or custodial experience is desired.

  • Shifts may be outside regular business hours (early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays) and may work prolonged work schedules during events.

  • Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License with a good driving record.

  • Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting items up to 10 lbs., bending, standing, or walking.
