JOB DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The Facility Assistant is responsible for front-line supervisor duties while acting as a customer service representative and staff support assistant at the Summit on the Park, Administration Building, Village Theater or other assigned facility.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:(Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed.)
Provides supervision of the overall operation of the Community Center in the absence of full-time Summit staff.
Responsible for the general security of the Summit on the Park or other assigned facility including any necessary communication with local law enforcement agencies.
Maintains accurate daily attendance reports, as well as accident/incident reports.
Performs general custodial/maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, glass cleaning, dusting and vacuuming as assigned.
Performs the role of a front-line employee to handle conflicts that arise with guests.
Responsible for completion and accuracy of required financial forms and records.
Responsible for facility promotion and positive public relations through interactions with the facility patrons.
Performs program set-up and tear-down as scheduled.
Ensures all possible safety measures are observed by guests.
Responsible for responding to, communicating and documenting emergency situations, including, but not limited to, First Aid, Severe Weather, and Missing Child events.
Attends meetings and/or training as directed.
May perform duties of Building Monitor, including, but not limited to, front desk tasks, computer registration, fee collection, and money handling.
Performs other assigned duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Minimum age of 18 years old.
High school graduate or GED required.
Must be able to possess Basic First Aid and CPR (Adult and Infant) certifications within 60 days of assignment.
Previous experience dealing with the public in a mature and responsible manner required.
Some college education preferred.
Some skill in the operation of basic office and computer equipment, including multi-line telephone required.
Previous supervisory and money handling experience preferred.
Previous community center or facility operation experience preferred.
Knowledgeable about programs offered by Summit on the Park and Parks & Recreation Services
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time; must be able to lift and carry tables and chairs and perform general set up
Strong organizational and communication skills (both oral and written) required
Ability to clearly communicate procedures, problems, and policies with fellow employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner
Ability to physically monitor all areas inside the Summit on the Park, including but not limited to, stairwells, locker rooms and the 2nd level of the facility as well as the immediate area outside of the facility
Ability to respond to emergency situations; must be able to climb stairs to the 2nd level of the facility to assist during emergencies and building evacuation
Must be willing to conform to department uniform policy
Ability to work a wide variety of shifts including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays
This is an "At-Will" position: Work assignments and hours are scheduled based on availability, division requirements and within the confines of the budget. Schedules and work hours are not guaranteed and are subject to change at any time due to division needs, budgeting constraints and staff availability.

This is a part-time job opportunity. An employee in this position can work up to 29 hours per week year-round. Work hours, however, will be solely determined based on workload and availability.
This is an at-will position. Hours are limited and will vary based on the operational needs of the department. Employees in this position are not full-time and will be classified as part-time employees.
