A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FACILITIES/OPERATIONS (HVAC) TECHNICIAN This position will utilize HVAC and facilities maintenance skills for the general maintenance and systems validation needed to support mission requirements, working under the guidance of the senior HVAC technician. This position will be responsible for the installation, servicing, modification, rebuild, and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment in an industrial or commercial establishment following applicable building codes and safety regulations. Will also perform maintenance, repair & modifications of other facility systems, to include plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems.

Light construction work (drywall repairs, painting, etc.) when needed. Will perform Operations departmental support, Customer support, Mission preparation, Facility operation, and Propellant operations, to include propellant transfers and decontamination. May provide cleanroom services and oversee vendors as required.

Work will be performed under direct supervision of senior technicians. Key Duties include: Diagnose and repair commercial refrigeration and air conditioning equipment Perform periodic maintenance on all HVAC systems and components, such as centrifugal compressors, evaporative condensers, electrical controls, pumps, fans, and heating equipment Perform annual inspections on all HVAC systems and components Document assignment completion in Work Order system Perform troubleshooting to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctions Charge air conditioning systems with refrigerant, check and test for leaks, set, and adjust controls and regulators QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FACILITIES/OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN Qualified applicants must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.

Experience with general facilities maintenance, previous HVAC experience, and commercial chiller experience desired, hands-on or trade school acceptable. Apprentice or Journeyman preferred. EPA Universal certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.

Previous experience maintaining Large (10T to 70T) DX Roof Top Units and Water Chilled HVAC Systems desired. Familiarity with Predictive Maintenance tools such as infrared, vibration analysis, and laser alignment. Position requires a high attention to detail, a results-focused team player that can adapt to change with demonstrated initiative and accountability.

Must be a self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a team. Must have a basic knowledge of computer use to include Word, Excel & Outlook. Experience reading & understanding blueprints & wiring diagrams is desired.

Position requires working with hazardous chemicals. Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job, which includes meeting pre-employment Self Contained Atmospheric Protection Ensemble (SCAPE) physical requirements, and becoming SCAPE certified within 180 days of employment.

Must complete all required training to become a Fully Qualified Propellant Handler.

Position requires accessing overhead cranes at 100 feet. Must practice and promote safe working conditions in accordance with OSHA and other site regulations. Must be able to hold a security clearance, up to TS level, to retain employment.

Must be willing & able to obtain a CDL if required.

Must be able to work weekends, overtime, and off-shift hours for customer support if required.

Must be willing and able to travel, including foreign travel, if required.
