GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine, unlicensed, semi-skilled maintenance for IAAM facilities; ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades work. Operates a variety of maintenance and cleaning tools and equipment; and performs related work as required. Receives general supervision from Facilities Superintendent or designee.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs a variety of routine, unlicensed, semi-skilled maintenance for IAAM facilities, including, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical, trades work.
Ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition.
Assembles, repairs, maintains, and moves furniture, such as desks, cabinets, tables, chairs, shelves, and related fittings and fixtures.
Assists with installation and maintenance of exhibits items, display cases, historical artifacts, artworks, and associated audio-visual systems.
Conducts routine inspections and conducts maintenance of electrical, audio-visual, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning equipment; identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs to supervisor.
Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security and corrects problems / deficiencies; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor.
Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
Assists with custodial care of the building and grounds.
Maintains records and logs of daily activities.
Sets up and takes down furniture and equipment for special events, including chairs, tables, podiums, lecterns, PA equipment, projection equipment and screens, etc.
Assists with crowd management and emergency incident response.
Performs related duties, as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Methods and techniques used in the operation, repair, and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Fluency with personal computers, mobile devices, and software.
Operational characteristics of a variety of tools and equipment.
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
Principles and practices of record-keeping.
Principles and practices for providing high level of customer service.
Modern office practices, methods, and computer equipment and applications.
Perform semi-skilled facility maintenance.
Work semi-independently, occasionally with limited or no supervision.
Safely and effectively use, operate, and maintain equipment and tools.
Perform heavy manual labor.
Understand, interpret, and apply all pertinent laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Demonstrate strong customer service skills and establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications and Educational Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
3 years of relevant work experience in facilities maintenance.
Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Trades Licenses and/or Certifications is a plus.
Valid driver's license
Working Conditions
May be assigned an on-call and irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
