Job Description:

The Facilities Technician will be based in Milpitas, CA. In this position, you will repair, modify and provide preventative maintenance on building and facilities equipment, fixtures and systems.

Here is a glimpse of what you'll do

  • Responds to service calls and in-house repairs throughout the facility

  • Troubleshoots, responds to work orders, repairs systems and equipment

  • Installs office fixtures and performs work in various maintenance trades including mechanical, electrical and plumbing

  • Routine assignments include moving furniture, materials and equipment

  • Conducts scheduled preventative maintenance and breaks down equipment for clean up

  • Converses with equipment operators to ascertain problems with equipment before breakdown, and to determine if breakdown is due to human error or mechanical problems

  • Tests faulty equipment and applies knowledge of functional operation of electronic units and systems to diagnose cause of malfunction

  • Tests electronic components and circuits to locate defects

  • Replaces defective components and wiring and adjusts mechanical parts

  • Aligns, adjusts and calibrates equipment according to specifications

  • Calibrates testing instruments

  • May maintain records of repairs, calibrations and tests

  • Enters information into computer to copy program from one electronic component to another, or to draw, modify or to store schematics

  • Oversees emergency system backup

  • Ensures plumbing, sewer, water, electrical and mechanical systems are functional

  • 5-7 years experience in the maintenance trades

  • Serves as an expert/consultant in technical skills with other employees

  • Demonstrates knowledge of advanced technologies as well as functional techniques and improves processes

  • Applies new technologies and technological changes

  • Knowledge of shop math

  • Ability to utilize tools and measuring instruments

The Facilities manager will be responsible for managing a small team and will work closely on a daily basis with the partners of the firm as well as architects, engineers, contractors, owners and tenant reps. The position will also be responsible for project development and project management for the corporate office and all field office locations. As such, the position demands a dedicated individual with excellent attention to detail, leadership skills, facility with numbers and software applications, good people skills and the ability to establish priorities, multi-task, work independently and solve problems. Specific Responsibilities: * Responsible for writing and maintaining all facilities policies, procedures, and work instructions as well as responsible for negotiation of all external maintenance contracts, i.e., HVAC, landscaping, janitorial, etc.) * Provides daily direction and supervision of the facilities mechanics * Responsible for the management of all third-party vendors including project managers, architects, contractors, etc * Responsible for facilities management and maintenance of roughly 400k sf of office/lab space locally in Northern CA and throughout the US * Responsible for project development and project management for the corporate office and all field office locations.
