FUNCTION: Performs a variety of tasks related to the maintenance of Bangor Savings Bank's infrastructure and the responsibilities of the Real Estate Management Department. Exercises discretion and independent judgment while performing duties.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Position Specific:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for our customers and employees, consistent with our company's brand image as well as our department's reputation for excellence in facilities management.

  • Provides 24/7 on-call availability.

  • Must be available to work overtime including nights, weekends, and holidays to accomplish business disruptive work as necessary.

  • Responds promptly to maintenance requests and addresses any issues in a timely manner.

  • Conducts regular inspections of facilities (buildings, equipment, grounds etc.) to identify and address maintenance issues. Creates checklists as needed to improve efficiency.

  • Proactively seeks out and corrects facility related issues without prompting

  • Follows up on reports of maintenance problems by determining root causes and correcting problems. Ensures required maintenance gets documented into the work order system or reported to the appropriate bank personnel or contractor.

  • Able to perform a wide variety of maintenance work. This may include routine repairs, assisting with personnel moves, setting up furniture, general cleaning, painting, light carpentry, landscaping and snow removal, lock and hardware repairs, HVAC filter changes, and working with contractors and specialists to assure work is done to bank standards.

  • Is methodical and able to identify, plan, and schedule their own work.

  • Responsible for upkeep of bank/department owned equipment and keeping clean and organized workspaces, including vehicles, workshop, and job sites.

General:

  • Collaborates with colleagues to address maintenance issues and perform repairs in the least disruptive manner possible.

  • Exhibits strong work ethic with a focus on customer service, efficiency, and quality.

  • Communicate effectively with bank employees and customers to understand their needs and address any concerns.

  • Detailed oriented, with eye for quality to uphold brand standards.

  • Responsible for completing bank required training and performance management tasks as assigned and within the required deadlines.

  • Works independently and as part of a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.

  • Exhibits professionalism in handling multiple tasks.

  • Interacts harmoniously and effectively with others, focusing upon the attainment of bank goals and objectives through a commitment to teamwork.

  • Conforms to acceptable punctuality/attendance standards as expressed in the Employee Handbook. Able to make and keep appointments.

  • Performs additional duties as requested.

Compliance and Control:

  • Complies with all department procedures and relevant business regulations.

  • Is safety focused and works in compliance with OSHA regulations.

  • Assists in ensuring that the Bank complies with local, state, and federal regulations.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver's license in good standing.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Relevant computer literacy for email communications, documentation of procedures, etc.

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Is proactive and observant - without having to be directed, is always looking for issues and ways to improve and takes initiative on items needing repairs.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing tasks and demands as well as tasks with a high level of complexity.

  • Able to problem solve a wide variety issues related to building maintenance. Is organized and flexible while able to prioritize work and willing to adjust schedules as necessary.

  • Has experience in a related field. Building trades experience such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry skills/experience preferred.

  • Broad in-depth knowledge of building systems and various maintenance techniques. Working knowledge of building plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.

  • Able to maintain inventory records for equipment and supplies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, CONDITION REQUIREMENTS, & EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions.

  • Knowledge and experience in use of hand tools.

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Moderate reaching, walking, kneeling, crouching, sitting and standing required.

  • Able to climb up ladders.

  • Extensive travel within the footprint of the bank is required.

External and internal applications, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential functions (as listed) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on an individual basis.
