BAE Systems' Electronic Systems (ES) sector is looking for candidates to join our Facilities/ Plant Engineering team We have an intern position (S) for a talented, up and coming Facilities Electrician(S) who want to work for a prominent high-tech company where technical excellence is highly valued. ES develops advanced electronic solutions which are fielded on everything from Electronic Warfare (EW) mission systems to state of the art imaging, targeting, guidance, and survivability solutions to assist and protect the warfighter. Our products must work the first time and every time because lives depend on it. The stakes are high!

Facilities Plant Engineering interns work side-by-side with experienced project management, site management, project coordinators, senior engineering staff and trade professionals.

This internship is a paid internship, which will be at BAE SYSTEMS in southern New Hampshire or Massachusetts and will provide general insight into Electrical Technologies.

Some of the responsibilities of a Facilities Technical Intern HS / Electrician :

  • Performs a variety of complex electrical work such as installing, maintaining, repairing, adjusting and troubleshooting a wide variety of electrical equipment.

  • Works from blueprints, sketches, and manufacturer's equipment/schematic diagrams to design and plan the sequence of operations to carry out complex wiring and equipment installations, maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial electrical equipment such as: boilers and boiler room support equipment and controls, chillers, air compressors, test chambers, computer-controlled building management system components and sensors, HVAC controls, electronic frequency converters, electronic variable speed drives, emergency power systems, fire and security systems, and other similar types of equipment. Interfaces with design engineers and service technicians when installing, modifying, and enhancing operations of equipment and completing construction projects may be required to work with or direct contractor personnel when performing this task.

  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain complex electrical equipment such as microprocessor- based controllers and sensors, security systems, air compressors, vacuum pumps, and variable pitch vane air handling units. Other equipment could include variable speed AC/DC drives, acid exhaust scrubbers, chillers, boilers, deionized water systems, waste water pumps, and air conditioning units. Site power distribution systems, 400 cycle power systems, and specialty power equipment could also be involved.

  • Monitors, collects, and analyzes signal data to control building conditions and operations, and to implement adjustments, corrective actions, calibrations, improvements to existing controls and programs, as required. These control systems may at times need to be accessed remotely.

  • Provide the programming and control circuitry necessary for a complete installation on any or all of these systems or equipment.

  • Installs microprocessor based control systems. Provides the reprogramming and control circuitry necessary for a complete installation.

  • Prepare charts, diagrams and reports expressing technical progress and accomplishments measured against specific plans.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Must currently be enrolled in a High School level CAD / Drafting type program

  • Must have completed the equivalent of Sophomore year (entering junior year)

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred

  • HVAC experience is preferred

  • Leadership skills

  • Understanding of infrastructure and utilities is preferred

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $39,520 - $39,520

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
