JOB SUMMARY
Under supervision, the Facilities Assistant performs general cleaning and maintenance of assigned recreation facilities and grounds. Performs minor repairs and assists with scheduled events held at the Community Center.
Salary amount offered will depend on qualifications. This is a non-exempt position.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleans facilities; sanitizes bathrooms; empties trash receptacles; sweeps and mops floors.
Greets and assists customers; answers questions related to facilities and events.
Assembles and arranges tables, chairs, and other structures according to event specifications; hangs banners and other decorations.
Sets-up and adjusts sounds system and lights during events as needed.
Takes down decorations, tables, chairs, and other structures after events; collects and removes trash.
Performs semi-skilled curbside maintenance such as but not limited to irrigation and landscaping.
Performs related duties as required or assigned.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is performed indoors and outdoors at recreation facilities and requires exposure to various outdoor weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, and mechanical and electrical hazards. May be required to climb ladders and work at heights of 30 feet. May be required to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High school diploma or GED equivalent AND one (1) year of previous customer service or maintenance related experience preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of:
Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
Work safety policies, procedures, and practices.
Customer service principles, practices, and etiquette.
General cleaning, methods, chemicals, and tools.
Skill in:
Operating a variety of tools and equipment used in event set-up.
Organizing work and setting priorities to meet deadlines.
Reading and accurately interpreting work orders and equipment manuals.
Following instructions.
Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid State driver's license may be required.
