Position Summary/Objective:

As a member of the GCE - Operations Team, you will coordinate with 3 distribution centers and 30 branch locations, several with cross-dock situations. You will drive and maintain a high level of safety and compliance for all GCE employees. You will report directly to the Director of Safety and Strategic Operations and interact with several leaders within the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Create detailed reports on safety incidents throughout the company, specifically in warehouses and in company vehicles.

  • Conduct facility inspections to detect existing or potentially unsafe conditions.

  • Oversee facility upgrade projects as directed.

  • Handle facility repairs as directed.

  • Coordinate quotations and oversee completion of repair requests.

  • Works with site safety committees to ensure safety guidelines are being followed.

  • Maintains facility and safety records.

  • Coordinate with Supervisors on our company drug policy and make determinations on which employees should be tested and when.

  • Provides standardized facility and safety reports as directed.

  • Monitors inspection of equipment to detect existing or potential failures and recommends corrective/preventative measures where indicated.

  • Interface with regulatory bodies like OSHA, DOT, and State/Local Regulators.

  • Travel to Granite City distribution centers and branch locations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies

  • Knowledge of safety principles and concepts and loss prevention and reduction.

  • Knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures and investigative skills.

  • Good organizational skills and leadership ability.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Working proficiency in other Microsoft products

  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of time (expenses reimbursed)

Education and Experience

  • Four Years' experience in safety and facility related disciplines.

  • Bachelor's Degree in supply chain management, operations management, project management, or logistics.

  • All education requirements may be waved in lieu of hands on industry experience
