Summary

You could make a difference in advancing our mission at The Jackson Laboratory as a Facilities Project Manager based at our Bar Harbor, Maine site as part of the Facilities Engineering team. This full-time professional position will be responsible for managing capital projects from programming through close-out, with primary focus on renovations and new construction across our four campuses with budgets ranging from $20k - $20M. The successful candidate will develop project needs with clients and stakeholders and oversee designers, engineers, contractors, and other resources to assure successful delivery and closeout of each project.

Responsibilities

In addition to the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for proposed projects, general duties include performing client programming and scope development; selection and management of professional design teams; project bidding and procurement; management of project documentation, schedule, and project cost accounting; review of building systems and construction details designed by others; and on-site inspections to assure construction is in compliance with plans and specifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or other related Engineering discipline

  • Extensive experience in the development and delivery of capital projects in institutional setting, including building renovations, new construction, and infrastructure improvements, from programming through construction and project close-out. Knowledge and experience in the renovation of buildings, including building systems, design processes, and multiple methods of project delivery.

  • Knowledge, experience, and a successful track record in managing capital projects and project delivery in budget and on schedule.

  • Ability to self-organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments through organizing resources and establishing priorities.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

  • Need for occasional travel

  • Demonstrated skill in the use of computers and related software (Windows based environment, AutoCAD, MS Office group, MS Project or Primavera, e-Builder, etc..)

A successful Senior Project Administrator should have a high attention to detail, ability to switch between multiple tasks during the day, and exemplary communication skills. Responsibilities * Customer Experience Management: * Responsible for ensuring a superior customer experience. * Creates formal, accurate, and tailored project summaries, according to customer-specific time tables. * Works with the Project Manager and Project Scientist teams to anticipate possible problems or inconsistencies and drives mid-course changes and corrections in order to avoid customer dissatisfaction or cost overruns. * Quotation Development and Tracking: * Develops cost estimates, formal quotations (statement of work), renewals, and project change orders for standardized projects with minimal turnaround. * Initiates new or renewed JAX Services projects. * Supports quotation tracking processes and report generation. * Order Entry and Record-Keeping: * Establishes and maintains an accurate, complete, and understandable summary of activities and projects. * Drives progress of each department/area involved in project to ensure that all project goals are met. * Works with operations to ensure that projects are on track for deliverables and takes responsibility and ownership for managing the project's overall success. * Fiscal Responsibility: * Completes monthly billing of projects. * Responsible to meeting departmental and JAX Services financial goals by ensuring that billing is timely and accurate. * Works with customers and Accounts Receivable when issues arise that involve clarity of project, service delivered, or deviations. Qualifications * Knowledge of animal husbandry, reproductive sciences, and/or and colony management as would normally be acquired by attainment of a Baccalaureate degree in animal husbandry/BS in a life science OR 3-5 years experience in a position in which animal husbandry, reproductive sciences and colony management were major job responsibilities. * 2-5 years experience within a customer support or service environment. * Proficiency with a variety of software tools including MS Office software including Excel, Goldmine, laboratory information management databases, Collaboration software such as SharePoint, ERP, and CRM solutions. * Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required. * Demonstrated aptitude to train Project Administrators and to independently lead process development of new services. * Proven ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve desired business results. * Positive attitude and professional manner in all interactions; demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development. * Highly proficient in Excel, Dynamics AX, and LIMs systems.
