Description

  • Communicates and provides reports to the Senior Manager of Facilities and management, promulgates progress and resolves issues as they arise; facilitates the project/product move activities

  • Provides project coordination and management services on construction projects, renovations, and major maintenance projects to include facilitating the coordination and preparation of design documents, specifications, estimates, and budgets between client and contractors and subcontractors.

  • Coordinates the bid/award review activities for construction and design and manages the construction by coordinating the activities of General Contractors, Designers, and move coordinators for project/product transfers.

  • Must be proficient in reading and architectural drawings and other CAD tools/maps. Experience in renovation of existing spaces and major maintenance of existing building infrastructure;

  • Manages and tracks the design and construction budget as well as furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE); coordinates the start-up of major utilities and equipment and the relocation of occupants into the finished space and evaluate design professionals and contractors at the close of a project.

  • Technical understanding of site facility systems: HVAC, BMS, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical systems.

Minimum Qualifications:
7 years of experience in a similar support role which includes:

  • Facilities project management to include

  • Managed work order/preventative maintenance scheduling and assignment

  • Coordinate site event set-ups

  • Procurement of facility supplies

  • Coordinating with site facilities on move projects

  • Construction/Demolition

Demonstrated proficiency in:

  • Excel

  • PowerPoint

  • Microsoft word

  • Communication skills in English

Facilities Engineering & Planning, at the Aerojet Rocketdyne Los Angeles Site, is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer with a Professional Engineering (PE) license with experience in Project Engineering and Design for the installation and modifications of Manufacturing and Process equipment, HVAC systems, Plumbing, Process Piping, and Clean Pressurized gas systems. This current position may be filled at this level as posted or one level higher. Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each) Working under limited general direction: 30% - Lead and support Facilities Projects in the development of Mechanical Engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates for Equipment Acquisitions, Facility renovations, and Construction projects. 10% - Interface with A&E firms and Construction Contractors. 20% - Review and approve construction documents and contractor submittals. 10% - Maintain as-built drawings and records. 10% - Interpret and apply codes. 20% - Support Maintenance staff in trouble shooting and technical issues as required. Requirements Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, and five (5) years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Knowledge of applicable Mechanical and Plumbing Building codes. * Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as ASME/ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc. * California State Licensed Professional Engineer – Mechanical Engineering. * Proficiency in AutoCad, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project. US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Work Environment/Physical requirements: The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps). While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto.
