The opportunity

Magic Leap's Site Operations roles span real estate operations, facilities management, workplace operations, travel, and excess equipment sales. Site Operations roles are responsible for end-to-end operations across current and potential locations Magic Leap operates, inclusive of Magic Leap's travel logistics. Activities include a) Scouting location through site build out oversight & negotiating/ managing office leases; b) Supporting workplace engagement activities; c) Monitoring & engaging with stakeholders on travel policy value & efficiency; d) lifecycle management of equipment; e) Supervising facilities maintenance & repair staff/ vendors; f) Partnering with business on space utilization efficiency, layouts, & modifications; g) Examining & evaluating facility suitability; h) Managing operations & capital expense budgets.

As a Facilities Manager within our Facilities Department, you will be responsible for implementing and managing comprehensive maintenance programs, supervising facility staff, and ensuring the effective utilization of resources. As a Facilities Manager, you will play a crucial role in enhancing facility functionality, minimizing downtime, and contributing to the overall success of Magic Leap.

What you'll do

  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance programs, including preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, ensuring minimal disruption of production

  • Diagnose maintenance issues, oversee repairs, equipment overhauls, upgrades, and modifications

  • Create and manage the facilities budget, prepare repair cost estimates, and procure new contracts to drive improvements, minimize operating costs, and reduce environmental impact

  • Schedule, prioritize, and inspect work conducted by staff and contractors, maintaining safe work practices and ensuring assignments are completed on schedule

  • Contribute to facility layout changes, including planning and overseeing the physical movement and rearrangement of machinery

  • Participate in energy conservation and waste management programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations

  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed, report accidents and injuries promptly, and participate in safety meetings and training

  • Regularly update stakeholders on project progress and manage vendor relations, including invoice approval and contract negotiations

  • Lead a dynamic team, adeptly managing manpower scheduling, overseeing timesheet approvals, and seamlessly coordinating emergency and routine facility operations

  • Serve as a liaison with local authorities, facilitating planning processes, securing permits, and coordinating inspections, while ensuring stakeholders are well-informed and engaged in key project decisions

The experience you bring

  • 7 years of professional experience in Facilities Operations

  • Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience in an applicable field. We are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements

  • Proficiency in utilizing facility management software such as Upkeep and CMMS, alongside adeptness in CAD applications

  • Demonstrated expertise in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and overall building construction, underscoring a robust technical background

  • Hands-on experience with process gasses, chemicals, and navigating cleanroom environments, indicative of adaptability and specialized knowledge

  • Effective communicator adept at establishing rapport across all organizational levels, fostering productive relationships crucial for operational success

  • Experience in semiconductor or optical industries, offering invaluable insights into sector-specific requirements and challenges

  • Recognized leadership capabilities demonstrated through team management, budget oversight, and delivering impactful presentations to senior stakeholders

  • Flexibility to travel approximately 10% of the time, whether for training, support, or spearheading strategic initiatives

  • Customer-centric approach with a proactive, on-the-ground attitude tailored for the demands of a factory environment

  • Proficient in contracting, negotiation, and adept at navigating change management processes, crucial for ensuring operational efficiency and agility

  • Possession of relevant certifications or degrees in related disciplines, highlighting a commitment to ongoing professional development and mastery in the field

Additional Requirements

  • Availability for on-call responsibilities as needed, such as occasional nights or weekends

  • Ability to safely lift and maneuver heavy objects

  • Adherence to a flexible work schedule, accommodating operational needs spanning from (7am-4pm, or 8am-5pm)
