Essential Functions:

  • Monitor and control the traffic and activities of outside vendors and contractors working for the Facilities Department, within the Aquarium facilities

  • Coordinate all Facilities activities with Aquarium staff

  • Act as Facilities "Help Desk" contact point.

  • Provide administrative functions to Facilities Department, including but not limited to timekeeping, expense and budget tracking, material and equipment procurement, etc; provide monthly reports to Sr. Dir. Cap. Planning

  • Maintains records of operating and capital expenditures and assists Facilities Managers in tracking project costs. Assists in constructing and monitoring departmental budgets

  • Department liaison for internal committees

  • Establishes and maintains a master facilities activity schedule showing all significant and disruptive corrective and improvement work. Include other Aquarium activities schedules, such as catered events, membership, etc. to minimize conflict and disruption. Coordinate and communicate schedules with all NAIB departments and vendors, as required

  • Coordinates vendor and contractor access to Facilities with Security Department

  • Receives all calls for facilities services from outside departments. Coordinates maintenance staff schedules to identify their availability for emergency calls.

  • Maintain the work order system for monitoring status of work requests and communicating the same to the originating department

  • Adheres to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned or required; may work within

Qualifications/Position

Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent, coupled with minimum 3 years experience working as a coordinator in the areas of facilities and/or project management.

  • The position requires good customer service and organization skills.

  • Computer proficient in word processing and spreadsheets is essential. Experience with two-way radios, budget tracking is also required. Experience with project management programs, scheduling, blueprints and facilities/project management terminology and AutoCAD are desirable.

  • Must be able to understand the purchasing process and have good recordkeeping skills.

  • Knowledge with computers, product literature and catalogs, blueprints, and building/project specifications is desirable.

VIEW JOBS 1/18/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-17T00:00 General Summary/Purpose: The well-qualified candidate will perform professional-level work as a Facilities Operations Administrator for Research Animal Resources (RAR) at Johns Hopkins University. This individual will oversee all facilities aspects of the Primate facility located in Freeland, Maryland to including plumbing of primate watering systems, large animal cage repair and construction to include welding, and grounds maintenance. Additional responsibilities will include the management of several equipment maintenance agreements for the service center and oversight of vehicle lease agreements and upkeep for all locations within RAR. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: The Facilities Operations Administrator will perform a variety of support tasks that deliver and sustain ongoing operations to assure the facilities are properly maintained at all time. The following may be performed in support of the operations at all Research Animal Resources sites: * Repair and build new stainless steel caging systems for primarily primates * Repairs, replaces and install watering lines to several types of primate caging systems. * Rebuild circulating pumps, services low pressure heating systems, and other associated equipment including control air compressors, motorized valves and minor controls. * Performs service work and preventative maintenance on other equipment throughout the school including commercial and residential kitchen, laundry, refrigeration and shop equipment. * Maintain at least 10 service/maintenance contracts with various vendors used by Johns Hopkins University * Supervise the use of 3 company vehicles, maintenance necessary service work to the vehicles, and correspond with risk office and leasing companies as necessary. * Train with existing staff engineer on the repairs of cage washing robotics system * Performs snow and ice removal from all roads and sidewalks. (This position is deemed essential and must report during emergencies and inclement weather, etc.). * Perform grounds work including mowing and trimming. * Maintains inventory of supplies, negotiate pricing, and place orders * Monitor electrical, fluid and other delivery and removal systems. * Performs additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (mandatory): Associate's degree. 5 years of relevant experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Advanced knowledge of primate caging systems and water supply, theory, materials, installations, codes, plumbing tool use, and gas line materials * Must have class C driver's license with acceptable driving record. Specific Physical Requirements: Ability to push and pull more than 100 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds. Work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments with a variety of sound, lighting, and temperature conditions. May be necessary to work in confined spaces on an infrequent basis.
