Summary:

Manages and coordinates all facilities related functions including physical security, safety, environmental, construction, renovation, relocations, lease property management, and maintenance of equipment, machines, grounds, and vehicle fleet.

Principal Accountabilities: (Functional)

  • Establishes, directs and maintains corporate industrial safety and environmental health and safety programs. Insures compliance of environmental issues and waste disposal.

  • Provide strategic facility and tactical planning.

  • Oversee construction, renovation, relocation, and maintenance of all UIC facilities, and coordinates requirements for new designs, surveys, studies, and other facility related projects.

  • Prepare and manage the facility financial budgets and forecasts.

  • Implement programs which promote sound utility and energy conservation management.

  • Establishes, schedules, and controls a preventive maintenance program to maintain production machinery and equipment in proper working condition.

  • Prepares capital expenditure proposals and contracts for facility construction and acquisitions within the plant and equipment budgets.

  • Negotiates and administers all contracts and oversees suppliers associated with facilities related projects. Coordinate support services, ie., telecommunications and telephones.

  • Establishes, directs, and maintains corporate security and protection programs.

Principal Accountabilities: (General Supervisory)

  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable State and Federal laws, including interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, directing, work and appraising performance.

  • Interprets company policies to employees and enforces all safety regulations.

  • Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department; may include budget development and control.

  • Develops workforce planning and utilization programs to satisfy actual and projected requirements; Includes the scheduling of overtime and cost/effective use of temporary services.

  • Implements cross-training activities and plans for employees under his/her direction with specific attention toward the development of a highly flexible work force.

  • Establishes and implements team/individual Critical Success Factors, including the measurement and documentation of the progress of each employee toward the established goals.

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work-related problems.

  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. in a related field plus 7-10 yrs' experience in facilities project management and maintenance, industrial plant security and safety programs, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality

  • Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires the ability to use a computer on a frequent basis.

  • Position requires the ability to understand and interpret detailed documents and drawings.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly with fellow workers, and in giving presentations.

  • The ability to travel to customer sites, subsidiary locations or technical conferences may occasionally be required.

Responsible for ensuring safe and efficient package sortation through the management of Package Handlers. Essential Functions * Serves as a champion for FXG's Safety Above All Culture and supports all related initiatives * Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: hiring, terminations, coaching, training, recognition and rewards, performance evaluation and management, discipline, addressing employee concerns and staff productivity * Plans, organizes, staffs, directs and controls specific day-to-day operations within the station or hub * Responsible for assigning and managing employees to ensure the safe and efficient sortation of packages through the facility, minimizing operational cost and maximizing operational quality, including the movement, tracking and administration of trailers (in conjunction with the linehaul department as applicable) * Analyzes operational performance through direct observation, interpretation of reports and collaboration with others. Determines opportunities for improvement of key metrics and executes action plans to achieve results * Leads daily employee and/or planning meetings to ensure workforce communication and understanding of operational updates and daily goals; Includes communication and public speaking to small and large audiences on a regular basis * Participates in the development of and responsible for administering company employee relations strategies, including maintaining the confidentiality of such material and matters * Participates in the development of and responsible for administering company safety strategies and programs * Investigates, resolves and/or escalates customer service issues, as appropriate * Responsible for training new employees regarding job duties and performance expectations and ensuring compliance with FXG policies, procedures and other training requirements, including but not limited to training related to quality assurance, SWAK, hazardous materials, Video Event Data Recorder (VEDR) coaching, and dock safety * Mentors and develops critical skill sets for new and/or less-experienced Operations Managers * Adapts quickly to change to meet dynamic business needs; Displays flexibility and appropriate sense of urgency, while leading and engaging employees in a positive and professional manner NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Education * High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics or a related area preferred Minimum Experience * Six (6) months package handler, FedEx Ground field or related experience required; Related includes, but is not limited to, fulfillment center, warehouse, dock or any supervisory experience.
