The Facilities Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the Facilities and Maintenance groups. This position is also responsible for maintaining the general facility infrastructure. The Facilities Engineering Manager provides leadership for all departmental operations in a manner that meets the safety, quality, on-time delivery, financial, and continuous improvement goals of the facility.


  • Effectively manage capital project costs and timelines to plan. Projects may range from $5K to $2M+.

  • Manage and direct the activities of facility engineers, maintenance supervisor, maintenance mechanics, and other support personnel.

  • Manage all aspects of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program for the facility.

  • Manage the operation and maintenance of a 24/7 aerospace production facility, including production equipment, utility systems, buildings, and grounds.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for cost, cycle time, and quality.

  • Manage the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program for the site and implement improvement ideas.

  • Work closely with the Environmental, Health, and Safety department to ensure all equipment and processes meet federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.

  • Manage the installation, servicing and repair of all equipment, buildings and grounds necessary for the continuity of site operations, and the safety of site personnel.

  • Accountable for ethical behavior per UTC code of ethics.

  • Ensures the work done adheres to zoning, hazardous waste, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Exercises independent judgment in the course of carrying out overall responsibilities and other activities assigned.

  • Available to respond to after-hours calls to support site operation.

  • Develops daily goals to maintain equipment and systems that support plant production and provides general maintenance support to other departments as required.

  • Develops long term objectives to meet the strategic objectives of the business and identifies and implements facility related capital projects within schedule and budget.

  • Successfully develops and manages annual department and facility capital project budgets and understand and administers company policy as appropriate.

  • Enforces the UTC visual factory guidelines for to maintain a clean, and organized working environment in all areas of the plant.

  • Participates on the site's safety committee.

  • Develops and manages policy deployment initiatives for the Facilities and Maintenance groups.

  • Provides regular and timely status reports to the Director of Operations.

  • Develops and motivates a skilled Facilities and Maintenance workforce and ensuring that the responsibilities of all indirect reports are clearly defined and communicated.

  • Establishes and communicates annual objectives for direct reports and reviews performance to objectives in accordance with Collins Aerospace practice.

  • Addresses employee relations issues as needed in a timely manner.

  • Takes an active role in identifying training opportunities that develop both direct and indirect reports for current responsibilities and for future opportunities.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with contractors to assist with facilities and maintenance activities as appropriate.

  • Ensures that department leadership assesses the quality and timeliness of completed maintenance work and provides immediate constructive feedback to employees on their workmanship.


  • BS degree in a related technical field.

  • 7+ years working in manufacturing/production environment.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.

  • Project Management experience.

  • Prior Maintenance Supervision or Management experience very helpful.

  • Prior experience managing Teams/ Direct Reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree w/4+ years related experience

  • P.E. License

  • Facilities Management or Project/Program Management Certificate

  • Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations, as well as building, electrical, plumbing, civil and mechanical construction codes.

  • Knowledge of drawing standards, engineering software (CAD, etc.), control systems, and process instrumentation.

  • Strong accountability, administrative, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Candidate must be able to complete projects on time.

  • Strong project management skills including experience in managing capital projects.

  • Ability to work as a team member with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to identify and analyze problems and to exercise creativity to develop and/or implement practical solutions.

  • Ability to evaluate his/her work, as well as direct reports, and exercise judgment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and project management skills.
