The Facilities Manager will manage the Rossin College facilities planning and support services for a large campus unit with research and educational activities in multiple building locations on multiple campuses. Provide decision support for on campus space-related matters for the College. Develop and conceptualize alternative layouts for programming and planning of design and construction projects of educational and research facilities for the campus environment. Oversee and manage the implementation and completion of these projects along with Facilities Design and Construction personnel. Provide collaboration and support of projects including budgetary aspects, programming continuity and status updates for design development, bidding and construction of facility projects.

Accountabilities:

  • Space Management

  • Coordinate, inventory and manage space administered by the Rossin College

  • Support the strategic mission and growth of the Rossin College by providing accurate and current facilities information to the College leadership

  • Direct and manage surveys and space audits to ensure accurate representation of Rossin College space and to support strategic changes to space allocations

  • Continuously assess and improve Rossin College space management, including policies and standard operating procedures

  • Assist the College leadership with space requests to facilitate effective and timely space reallocations

  • Coordinate with Lehigh Facilities to ensure maintenance and related projects are completed accurately and with minimal impact to the associated occupants and operations

  • Facilitate the support and advancement of information technology systems for space management, space reporting, and space visualization

  • Construction project management

  • Support the strategic mission and growth of the Rossin College by advising the College leadership regarding the renovation and construction of new academic and research facilities

  • Work with the College leadership and faculty, Lehigh Facilities and other campus partners in the planning and design of new and renovated spaces

  • Oversee and manage lab fit-outs, construction, and renovations of research and academic laboratory spaces

  • Manage construction and renovation projects for the College, coordinating with University Facilities

  • Develop and provide high-level project budgets for preliminary review and approval by all stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in architecture, construction management, engineering or a "like" field is required

  • Three to five years related work experience

  • At least 3 years experience in project, facilities, and/or space management

  • experience in working in a Research Academic Environment, preferred University experience

  • Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position

Special Considerations:

  • Occasional evening, holiday or weekend hours project schedules and deadlines may require occasional meetings outside normal working hours.

  • Occasional travel to attend training

  • Typical Office Enviornment

Job Description Details KEY ACCOUNTABILITY %20 Leadership – Responsible for leadership of a shift of facilities mechanics in support of fulfillment operations. May attend meetings as required. May assist Facilities Manager in the development of short- and long-term goals for the department in coordination with corporate management and works to implement strategies to attain goals. %20 Coordination - Coordinates maintenance activities and projects with Operations. Communicates directly with the Operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work on equipment as needed. %15 Administration – Perform administrative duties as required, including payroll management, individual development plans, performance improvement plans, coaching, evaluations, and regular one on ones. %10 CMMS - Reviews work orders for accuracy and completion against standards. Provides metrics and details to Facilities Manager as needed. Assign work as required, including developing work orders, assets review for accuracy, and inventory management. %5 Critical Systems Inventory - Ensure accurate inventory accounting by ensuring spare parts are accounted for in work orders, against correct equipment. Monitor proper checkout process in utilized. %10 Maintenance - Monitor and audit preventative maintenance programs to ensure accuracy, effectiveness and applicability to maintain equipment in optimal levels for production. Ensure maintenance practices and procedures are followed as outlined in department procedures. %10 Safety Leadership - Ensure that all facilities associates are working in a safe environment and all policies and procedures are adhered to. Ensure safety programs and practices are consistently administered throughout the department. %5 Project Management – Participate and oversee building projects, including capital improvements, asset replacements and construction as assigned. May also be involved in process improvement projects at site level. %5 Continuous Improvement - Partner with operations on initiatives for implementing continuous improvement projects as well as participate in Kaizen events. May lead CI projects, including Kaizen events as well as provide support through team member assignment and application support. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical) from an accredited university Minimum Experience: 3 years management in fulfillment/distribution, industrial manufacturing, or equivalent military experience. Some degree of electrical and mechanical understanding/experience combined with a basic knowledge of construction. Preferred Experience: 5 years maintenance/facilities management in fulfillment/distribution, industrial manufacturing, or equivalent military experience.
