The Facilities Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Engineering in maintaining the overall operation of the maintenance department at the hotel. The Facilities Manager must ensure the appearance and working order of the hotel meets the highest standards, including both the inside and outside of the building and the front and back of house. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the Assistant Director and Director of Engineering in the daily operation of the department.

  • Responsible for training and onboarding of new Engineering team members.

  • Work with contractors for scheduling and task assignments when needed.

  • Support safety protocols and procedures for the team.

  • Assists in effectively planning, scheduling and evaluating preventative maintenance programs.

  • Helps establish priorities for total property maintenance needs.

  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of Engineering.

  • Supervises distribution of repair work orders.

  • Assists in the maintaining of grounds, meeting rooms, public spaces, kitchen, and food outlets as needed.

  • Acts as technical liaison for all departments on property.

  • Supervises Engineering Department in the absence of the Director of Engineering.

  • Recommends or arranges for additional services such as painting, repair work, and the replacement of equipment.

  • Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of facilities in order to determine the type of work required.

  • Manages parts, supplies and equipment inventories.

  • Performs inspections effectively.

  • Assists in evaluating and implementing new technologies, equipment and supplies.

  • Assists in establishing and implementing an energy conservation program.

  • Helps ensure necessary permits and licenses are obtained and kept current.

  • Helps ensure regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards.

  • Ensures compliance with all Engineering departmental policies, standards and procedures.

  • Ensures all employees have the proper supplies, equipment, training and uniforms.

  • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.

  • Supervises staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met.

  • Assist with all other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Highly organized, comfortable with HotSOS or similar systems

  • Possess strong, empathetic leadership skills

  • Professional in both written and verbal communications

  • Experienced in hotel/resort preventative maintenance and/or repairs

  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional field; training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.

  • 4 years or more of hotel experience.

  • Able to work various hours and shifts to meet department needs and business demands

  • Requires 24 hour response availability seven days a week for emergency situations.

  • Strong technical skills in at least one of the following: Mechanical, HVAC-R or Electrical.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to delegate.

  • The ability to work in a high paced environment.

  • The ability to multi-task large and small projects.

  • The ability to oversee, direct, coach and mentor colleagues in a constructive and positive environment.

  • The ability to plan and forecast needs of the day as well as long term.

  • Physical requirements are: Frequently sitting, perform desk-based computer tasks, lift/carry/push/pull objects /kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.

  • Able to walk long distance, stand constantly, work both indoors and outdoors year-round, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
