The Facility Services department is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker to join its team in Plymouth. This position will be responsible for maintaining the building grounds, snow removal, performing maintenance tasks, and escorting vendors.

Location and hours:

This position will be located at the Adult Correctional Facility (ACF) at 1145 Shenandoah Lane North, Plymouth, MN 55447. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The work hours may be extended during weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays to accommodate the needs of the facility.

This is a full-time, benefit earning position.

In this position, you will:

  • Collect/dispose of trash and litter and empty trash receptacles.

  • Clean, service, and check fluids and batteries of vehicles and small gas engines.

  • Maintain roadways, sidewalks, driveways, and other concrete surfaces.

  • Maintain foliage, grass, shrubs, etc. and adjust sprinkler heads as needed.

  • Maintain interior structure, walls, floors, windows, ceilings, light fixtures and lights, vents, etc.

  • Maintain exterior structure, fences, ledges, hinges, etc.

  • Order, deliver, receive, and inventory equipment and supplies both to facility and to other county locations.

  • Inspect, assemble, and deliver office furniture and maintain storage areas for surplus.

  • Escort vendors and assist trades person or contractor in locating equipment and/or setting it up.

  • Assist with office moves, do setups, move furniture, and hang wall mount fixtures.

  • Clean maintenance and mechanical storage areas like, garages, shops, and common areas.

  • Help manage/complete work orders and preventative maintenance (PMs) as they come in.

  • Provide support as needed to other facility staff.

Need to have:

  • One of the following:

  • One year or more of custodial or general mechanical and facilities maintenance experience.

  • Completion of the Building Operations Technician Pathway training program.

A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.Ability to work under conditions hazardous to oneself and others, i.e., work outdoors in extreme temperatures.

Nice to have:

  • Experience:

  • Working with Power Tools and Forklifts.

  • With computers using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Operating heavy equipment like plows, tractors, and/or skid loaders.

Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, mechanical systems, and work order systems.Ability to gain boiler's license to advance career.Ability to use Building Automation Systems (BAS).
