Position Overview

This position will work within the Building Services team reporting to the Facilities Director and in coordination with Building Superintendent to perform maintenance of 117,000 sq. ft. facility in Port Washington NY. We are looking for an energetic and committed candidate who will be responsible for performing a variety of facilities maintenance work and tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works under the supervision of the Facilities Director and in coordination with Building Superintendent.

  • Perform routine maintenance & minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs to ensure the effective operation of the facility.

  • Perform exterior building maintenance activities such as landscaping, snow removal and ice melting.

  • Ensure that the facility is maintained in a sanitary, clean and orderly manner at all times.

  • Inform Building Superintendent of day to day activities and significant conditions of the building.

  • Assist in setup of meetings and other special events as needed.

  • Respond to employee inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner.

  • Ability to cross train on other roles within department; responsible for carrying out other duties as appropriate due to staff absences or at the discretion of management.

  • On call responsibilities 24/7 for any emergencies including power failures, inclement weather, mechanical, electrical, other infrastructure, or data center problems.

  • Ensure that all life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional.

  • Monitors video surveillance and controls access to the facility.


  • Completion of high school education or equivalent.

  • At least 3 5 years of maintenance experience in commercial building operations.

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrates excellent teamwork.

  • Maintains a high level of professionalism, integrity and communication with staff.

  • Provides excellent internal and external customer service; recognizes the needs of other team members and offers assistance

  • Ability to work off hours or on weekends during special projects as needed.

  • Ability to work off-hours or on weekends for weather related events as needed.

  • Ability to perform physical lifting of heavy objects

  • Ability to climb a ladder or step ladder.

  • Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, etc., as job may require.

  • Familiarity working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, e.g. Outlook, Excel and Word.
