Facilities Maintenance Technician - Lumber Warehouse

Based in Zeeland, Michigan, Novo Building Products operates Ornamental Decorative Millwork, L.J. Smith Stair Systems, and Novo Direct.

This role pays $17 per hour, shift is Monday - Friday 6:00am-2:30pm.

This position will be for maintaining the building and minor equipment issues. As well as material handling to include conversions, rebuilding units, and labeling product when necessary.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Keep building inside and out in a clean and orderly condition; maintaining and repairing building and property as needed.

• Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning/sweeping floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.

• Perform routine maintenance activities on structure, machines, and mechanical equipment, notifying Supervisor of need for repairs.

• Maintain inventory of tools and supplies.

• Clears snow or other weather-related hazards or general debris from sidewalk/walkways.

• Work with vendors to plan and schedule necessary repairs

• Communicates supply order needs to Supervisor

• May assist in gathering and emptying trash receptacles located inside and outside of the warehouse

• May operate a forklift or tugger as needed to offload and move product and pallets throughout warehouse safely.

• Conducts Daily inspection of forklift or tugger at start of shift and report any malfunctions or damages to Supervisor.

• Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

• Effectively perform all essential functions, including physical requirements

• Basic math, interpersonal/team and reasoning skills

• Ability to read, understand and carry out written procedures and standard work instructions.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Flexibility in scheduling - able to work overtime as needed.

• Use of proper PPE and company approved tools while remaining aware of hazards and maintaining a safe work environment.

• Experience with plumbing to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in maintenance in a distribution or manufacturing environment.

• Must be able to use hand tools and power tools.

• Experience in carpentry to handle basic repairs within the building.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to withstand exposure to seasonal weather elements and wood dust.

• 100%: Stand, handle or feel, squeeze or grasp

• 80%: Reaching with hands and arms, depth perception

• 50%: Walk, repetitive motion, operate moving equipment

• 10: Working bent at waist, stoop, kneel, crouch, bending or twisting

• Lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. without assistance.

• Lift, push or pull 75-100 lbs. with assistance.
