Job Summary

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, your role revolves around executing various maintenance tasks, repairs, and improvement projects within the facility. Your responsibilities include promptly responding to and prioritizing customer service requests, scheduling and conducting preventative maintenance activities, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout all areas of the facility. By executing maintenance tasks, addressing repair needs, and contributing to improvement projects, you play a vital role in ensuring a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for all occupants.

Responsibilities

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you'll be responsible for executing building, grounds maintenance, and repairs across local facilities occupied by the company. Your duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting regular inspections of buildings and functional systems to identify malfunctions and areas in need of repair.

  • Implementing preventative and scheduled maintenance procedures to ensure the continued functionality of facilities and equipment.

  • Maintaining the organization and cleanliness of facilities to create a safe and comfortable environment for occupants.

  • Responding promptly and appropriately to customer requests, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

  • Diagnosing facility issues and recommending preferred repair suppliers to address them effectively.

  • Communicating relevant information to internal customers and suppliers, including findings, scope of work, and timelines.

  • Monitoring all common room areas such as the kitchen, cafeteria, and lobby as well as prepare conference rooms before and after meetings. Other tasks include restocking supplies, straightening customer- or employee-facing areas, and running facility-related errands, assuring facility is neat and presentable to the public.

  • Evaluating products, services, and suppliers to ensure the highest quality and cost-effectiveness.

  • Identifying and communicating any detected building issues or equipment malfunctions to facilitate timely resolution.

  • Managing and maintaining facility warehouses in a clean and organized manner.

  • Assisting with corporate projects as assigned or required to support company objectives.

  • Performing any other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

All potential hires are subject to pre-employment checks which include but are not limited to background checks, drug screenings, and motor vehicle record checks.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in facility maintenance or a related field, demonstrating competency in various maintenance tasks.

  • Basic understanding of carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and machinery maintenance is necessary to effectively perform the required tasks.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required for documenting maintenance activities, communicating with stakeholders, and managing schedules.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job unless it causes undue hardship.

This position is classified as heavy work, involving the operation of machinery, power tools, and heavy equipment. Job tasks may require various physical activities such as walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, along with moving about the warehouse to various work areas. Physical demands include the ability to constantly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally to 100 pounds. Manual dexterity is crucial for operating machinery, tools, computers, and handling materials. Clear articulation and voice control are essential for effective communication with both internal and external customers via telephone. Specific vision abilities essential for this role include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Additionally, visual acuity is necessary to read documents, schematics, and equipment displays.

This role operates within a shop/warehouse setting with frequent exposure to oil, grease, and dirt, as well as extreme seasonal temperatures, and vibration. Occasionally, the role may entail working in elevated conditions, encountering harmful or corrosive chemicals, and facing the risk of electric shock. There is potential exposure to hazards related to equipment movement and harmful chemicals/solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed. Noise levels typically range from moderate to high.

Travel Requirements: Some travel may be required, occasionally overnight, to attend to maintenance needs across different locations.
