Facilities Maintenance Tech

Our school is seeking an individual with facilities maintenance and/or general

construction experience. Our full-time positions offer: Medical, dental, vision, retirement, and life

insurance benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and sick days, with typically consistent

working hours of Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m with a one- hour break for

lunch. We guarantee 40 hours per week, with the possibility of occasional overtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• General maintenance as assigned by Facilities Manager

• Assist with testing, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, systems, and structures

• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines and plant facilities

• Use a variety of hand and power tool equipment in performing duties

• Perform basic plumbing and electrical repairs

• Perform basic carpentry repairs as needed

• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report these and any unusual situations to proper supervision

• Assist with set-ups and take downs of stages, backdrops, sound systems, tables and chairs

• Receive and distribute materials throughout the facility

• Move items between locations and from/to storage, including furniture, equipment, and files

• Direct traffic as needed

• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

• Assist with special projects as assigned

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• High School or Technical School education

• Possesses skills in a related trade

• Two years of experience in general building maintenance required. Specific experience/skills in a related trade (carpenter, electrical, plumbing) preferred.

• Valid driver's license required.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Considerable judgment required to plan and perform unusual and difficult work where only general methods are available

• Able to make decisions involving considerable initiative and ingenuity

• Bloodborne Pathogens

Essential Functions:

• Regularly required to walk, including across uneven ground, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms

• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed

• Must be able to bend, squat, and stoop

• Some heavy lifting and considerable moving of equipment required

• Lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Safety Glasses required while performing certain tasks

Work Environment:

• Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise

• Exposed to a combination of normal office-type environments and shop environments

• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
